The ICE iteration of the Syros was launched in our market only recently by the Korean auto giant
Updated on 12.01.2026 – The upcoming Kia Syros EV was spotted testing on a public road recently. The Korean auto giant is slowly expanding its electric portfolio in India. At the moment, it offers the Carens Clavis EV in the mass market space in India. At the higher end, we have the EV6 and EV9 in our market. But to attract new car buyers, budget becomes a crucial factor. To address that, Kia will bring the electric avatar of its popular Syros compact SUV. The spy video captures the EV with a thick black camouflage plying on a busy highway. While it might be difficult to guess the identity, the tall-boy silhouette informs us that it is the upcoming Syros EV. We can expect it to carry a refreshed alloy wheel design and a few other exterior elements to set it apart from the regular ICE version. More details will emerge in the coming days.
New Kia Syros EV Spied For The First Time
Originally published on 12.08.2025 – The new Kia Syros EV was spotted testing for the first time. Syros, in the ICE guise, has been an instant hit among car buyers in our market. It represents a niche space between the Seltos and Sonet. In essence, the Korean car marque wants to offer something premium in the mass market category. That has been its USP in our market since the beginning. The likes of the Seltos, Sonet and Carens pretty much follow this exact strategy to entice new buyers. For now, let us take a look at the details of this case.

New Kia Syros EV Spied For The First Time
The internet is flooded with spy images of a heavily camouflaged EV. Look closely and the resemblance to the ICE model of the Kia Syros strongly indicates its identity. The tall boy and boxy silhouette and upright stance are typical characteristics of the existing Syros. At the front, we see the upright bonnet and stance, along with new-age aero alloy wheels, which we have seen on many Kia cars. Apart from that, the tail section contains taillamps on the extreme edges of the bumper. The EV is parked in a parking lot and is plugged in for charging.
This is perhaps somewhere in its home market of South Korea. That is where new models emerge from and are later available on sale in many international markets. We know that India has become a crucial region for Kia. Here, it has broken all records and emerged as the fastest car marque to accomplish 10 lakh (1 million) sales. That is a testament to how warmly the Indian buyers have embraced Kia products. Hence, it won’t be a surprise if India becomes one of the first markets to get the electric iteration of the Syros.
My View
Kia is on its way to becoming one of the biggest carmakers in India. It has already overtaken many auto companies that had been operating here for over 2 decades. That is already proof of how well it understands the mindset of Indian customers and designs products accordingly. Going forward, it plans to keep expanding its footprint in this region to grab a huge piece of one of the biggest automobile markets on the planet. Let us keep an eye out for more details in this space.
