The new mid-size SUV from the largest carmaker in the country appears to be a promising proposition
I recently got the opportunity to conduct the 0-100 km/h acceleration test of the newly launched Maruti Victoris. Victoris is derived from the Grand Vitara and will be offered through Maruti’s Arena outlets. The SUV carries modern design touches along with convenience and tech features, safety equipment, connectivity options, and multiple powertrain choices. With this model, Maruti Suzuki aims to expand its reach to even the most remote parts of India. It recently bagged a full 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP. For now, let us check out how fast it is.
Maruti Victoris 0-100 km/h Acceleration Test
As a part of the recent media drive, I decided to test the acceleration of the new mid-size SUV. Hence, after finding an open stretch of road, we put the engine through its paces. The SUV came to life as soon as I hit the accelerator pedal. The 60 km/h mark was breached in just 6.23 seconds, while the SUV reached 80 km/h in 10 seconds flat. Finally, it achieved the speed of 100 km/h in a decent 14.17 km/h, and I continued the test until 120 km/h, which came up in 20.12 seconds. For a naturally aspirated engine with a manual transmission, these are healthy figures.

Under its hood, the Maruti Victoris carries a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol, a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder strong-hybrid petrol, and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder Bi-fuel (petrol + CNG). These produce a respectable 103 PS / 139 Nm, 116 PS / 141 Nm, and 87 PS / 121 Nm of power and torque, respectively. In the mild hybrid iteration, the transmission duties are carried out by a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. With the CNG version, one can only pair it with a 5-speed manual transmission. Finally, the strong hybrid mill comes with a sole e-CVT automatic gearbox. The Smart Hybrid offers the ALLGRIP SELECT AWD system. Lastly, the mileage figures are 21.18 km/l (MT), 21.06 km/l (AT), 19.07 km/l (AWD), 27.02 km/kg (CNG), and 28.65 km/l (Strong Hybrid).
