The mid-size SUV has already been launched in many international markets over the last few months
The new Renault Duster was recently spied testing on the Indian roads. The launch is slated for the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. Hence, we will soon be witnessing it plying on our roads after a hiatus of a few years. We know that Duster is the model which commenced the entire revolution of mid-size SUVs in India back in 2012. It continued to be on sale in our market until 2022. By then, many new rivals had emerged and the Duster was simply not updated enough to compete with them. Therefore, the French auto giant will launch it again in its newest iteration.
New Renault Duster Spotted Testing
The video stems from autotrendtamil on Instagram. The visuals capture someone riding on a bike on a highway when they spot a heavily camouflaged SUV. Look closely and you will relate it to the new Renault Duster sold abroad. To be honest, the test mule had been seen on the road on previous occasions as well. At the front, we see the sleek LED DRLs on the edges of the slim grille and an upright stance with a rugged bonnet. The fog lamps are visible on the sporty bumper. The side section contains a butch appearance.
We see prominent wheel arches, roof rails, black side pillars and muscular side body panels. That is in line with how the international model looks. Finally, the tail end also looks quite sturdy with a shark fin antenna, a contoured tailgate and a sporty bumper. Even though this video doesn’t offer a glimpse of the inside, we know from the international model that it will bear all the latest tech and convenience amenities. That is crucial to attract new-age car buyers. More details regarding that will emerge closer to the launch.
Expected Specs
What stands out is that the global model comes with many engine and gearbox choices. It was also launched in Brazil recently with a 1.6-litre SCe petrol and a stronger 1.3-litre turbo petrol flex-fuel unit. These make 118 hp and 161 hp of peak power and torque, respectively. The gearbox options include a manual and a CVT automatic. For India, it could get a 1.3-litre turbo petrol, a 1.5-litre normal petrol, or a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Hence, it wil be intriguing to see which mill the Indian version comes with.
