Mahindra XUV700 Facelift Spotted Testing

The test mule has been spotted across the nation for a few weeks now

The Mahindra XUV700 facelift is in the news again as the test mule continues to make an appearance. The Indian automobile giant revamped its image forever when it first launched the XUV700 back in 2021. I must mention that it went from being a brand which makes hardcore, rugged and utilitarian SUVs to manufacturing world-class, luxurious and premium SUVs. In the years following that, we have seen this mindset in every subsequent SUV, including the Thar Roxx, Scorpio N, XUV3XO, XEV 9e and BE6. Going forward, this trend will certainly expand. For now, let us glance at what the updated XUV700 will carry.

Mahindra XUV700 Facelift Seen Testing

This post stems from teamcardelight on Instagram. We witness the camouflaged SUV in an isolated location. In the open stretch of land, the driver is performing some enthusiastic manoeuvres. In fact, the SUV is being driven around in circles rather aggressively. That could indicate that the engineers are testing the driving dynamics and stability of the vehicle on uneven surfaces. I know that the owners won’t use it for hardcore off-roading excursions. Still, its higher variants do come with an all-wheel-drive configuration, which lends it some decent adventurous traits.

Even though no official information is out yet, I am sure that the interior of the XUV700 facelift will offer the latest tech, connectivity and convenience amenities to the occupants. That has been Mahindra’s strong suit in the last few years. Its SUVs are among the most feature-laden in their respective segments. Also, Mahindra’s focus on active and passive safety equipment, along with high safety-rated cars, is something that the new-age customers truly appreciate. I have no reason to believe that it won’t push the boundaries in these regards with the facelift.

Expected Specs

In terms of the powertrain and transmission options, the Mahindra XUV700 facelift will most likely continue with the existing mills. This includes a powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mStallion turbo petrol and a familiar 2.2-litre 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine. There will be choices between manual and automatic transmissions. More importantly, the higher variants will offer all-wheel-drive capabilities so that users can take their SUVs to challenging terrains with confidence. More details about pricing, styling and features will emerge at the launch event early next year.

Having tracked Mahindra’s evolution closely for over a decade, I can confidently say the XUV700 marked a pivotal shift for the brand. Even with the current iteration doing excellent numbers, the upcoming facelift represents Mahindra’s ambition to challenge global benchmarks. From what we’re seeing, they’re staying true to that trajectory.
