New Mahindra XEV 9S Test Mule Seen Ahead of Debut

Last updated on 26.11.2025 – The upcoming electric SUV from Mahindra, the XEV 9S, has been performing road tests for quite some time now. We know that the debut is slated for November 26-27 at the Scream Electric event in Bengaluru. In this latest spotting, the front section of the EV is visible during the night ride. While the EV is wearing a thick camouflage, the front fascia reveals a connected light bar culminating in striking LED headlamps and LED DRLs on either side. At the rear, the slight resemblance to the XUV700 is evident too. Apart from that, the SUV bears a large stance, which will enhance its road presence. The side profile showcases flush-fitting door handles. Even the alloy wheels will be fresh.

Mahindra XEV 9S Teaser Again – Everything We Know So Far!

Last updated on 14.11.2025 – The upcoming flagship electric SUV from Mahindra, the XEV 9S, has been teased ahead of the debut at the end of this month. The Indian auto giant plans to expand its EV portfolio with new EV based on the same INGLO platform which underpins the existing BE 6 and XEV 9E. The latter two have been doing quite well on the sales charts ever since they were launched last year. As per the details in the new teaser, the XEV 9S will offer premium amenities and styling elements.

Some of the functionalities that were highlighted in the teaser video include a massive panoramic sunroof, a sealed off from grille section carrying the Infinity Mahindra logo, triple display layout (driver’s instrument cluster, infotainment system and passenger’s display), premium Harman Kardon audio system, upmarket upholstery, 3-row seating, sleek steering wheel, ventilated and massage front seats, and enticing centre console with top-notch materials. All in all, the SUV will bear an imposing road presence and all the latest bells and whistles. More details will emerge closer to the launch, which would take place in early 2026.

Mahindra XEV 9S Reimagined in Real World Light – XUV700’s 3-Row Sister Coming Soon!

Last updated on 03.11.2025 – The new Mahindra 7-seat electric SUV will be christened XEV 9S. With this, the Indian auto giant marks yet another key milestone in its EV journey. The upcoming ‘Scream Electric’ event will mark the 1st year anniversary of the launch of the XEV 9e and BE 6 in our market. These new-age electric SUVs are global products and have done tremendously well on the sales charts in just 1 year. That is a massive validation of how the Indian consumers have loved these new products. With the XEV 9S, Mahindra would want to attract a wide range of new buyers.

New Mahindra 7-seat Electric SUV to be Called XEV 9S

The Mahindra XEV 9S will be based on the new INGLO skateboard architecture. Therefore, it will benefit from the inherent traits of a born-electric platform. Taking cues from the trademark images first leaked online a couple of months ago, we have crafted an attractive virtual rendition. At the front, there is a massive LED light strip, which runs across the width of the SUV and culminates in LED DRLs on either side. These neatly encapsulate prominent LED headlamps with a large sealed-off section at the front. Down below, the SUV incorporates rugged elements to boast an imposing road presence.

From the sides, it is relatively easy to recognize the resemblance to the XUV700. The flaring wheel arches, black side pillars, faux roof rails, flush-fitting door handles and the trademark shoulder line could very well make it to production. We have also designed the tail section with inspiration from the existing XUV700. This includes a glossy black panel connecting the LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, a shark fin antenna and a rugged skid plate section on the bumper. Overall, we can expect the EV to boast an extensive list of new-age tech amenities to pamper the occupants.

My View

Mahindra is well on its way to becoming an eminent player in the Indian EV space. The existing XEV 9E and BE 6 have already enjoyed massive success. For those who want a large 3-row electric SUV with a more traditional body type, the upcoming XEV 9S could emerge as a great choice. I feel that the XEV 9E, with its coupe shape, is perhaps not for everyone. That is where the XEV 9S will come into the picture. We shall have to wait a few weeks to know all the details about the price, range, specs, features, etc.

Editor’s Note

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

As someone who has tracked Mahindra’s evolution for well over a decade, I see the XEV 9S as a strategically vital product for the brand. The XUV700 has already proven that Indian buyers have a strong appetite for premium 3-row SUVs, and electrifying that formula makes perfect sense. With the XEV 9S, Mahindra isn’t just expanding its EV lineup, it’s reinforcing its position as a serious homegrown contender in the premium electric SUV space. If priced right, this could easily become the go-to electric alternative for XUV700 buyers looking to future-proof their garage.
