In a rather shocking turn of events, a Honda Activa was spotted with as many as 5 persons riding on the road. Over the past many years, I have been reporting cases of unbelievable occurrences on our roads. It is well-known that our roads are considered some of the most dangerous on the planet. Apart from the road conditions, the fact that people don’t take traffic regulations seriously is a major reason for that. This latest activity is a perfect case in point. Let us take a look at the details of this report.
Honda Activa Owner Shows How to Accommodate 5 on His Scooter
This post stems from thejustindia on Instagram. The visuals capture something truly bizarre. A man riding on a highway records a Honda Activa in the adjacent lane. However, there are 4 people on this Activa, while they are holding the 5th person in the air on their shoulders. We also see that no one is wearing a helmet. When the man comes close to this scooter, the rider tries to hide his face. Soon thereafter, they turn onto another street, perhaps to avoid the camera.
As per the information in this post, this incident emerges from the Bijapur National Highway in Chhattisgarh. The exact location is somewhere around the old petrol pump on the Bijapur stretch. This occurred during the nighttime when the visibility is generally low. I don’t need to highlight how dangerous and hazardous this is. What is even more disturbing is the fact that this could cause damage even to the other unsuspecting road users. If they end up falling on the road, they will surely get hurt, but that could be an issue for other vehicles driving around them. Needless to say, the netizens are shocked to see this. While some people take it in good humour, others condemn such acts.
My View
I must admit that playing with the safety and well-being of people is not funny. In India, we lose lakhs of lives each year in road accidents. In most of these cases, the crashes occur due to the lack of seriousness on the part of the drivers and riders. It is high time we follow the rules and regulations strictly to avoid such mishaps. Also, if you find anyone flouting the rules and jeopardizing the safety of others, you should report them to the authorities so that appropriate action can be taken against them. I shall keep an eye out for more such events going forward.

The Honda Activa may be India’s most trusted family scooter, but it’s not designed to carry a small crowd. While such antics may look amusing online, they highlight a deeper problem, our collective disregard for traffic discipline. Until safety becomes as valued as convenience, we’ll keep seeing these dangerous spectacles on our roads.
