Thar owners often overestimate the capabilities of the potent off-roader and end up in terrible situations
In a rather shocking turn of events, a Mahindra Thar was spotted rescuing another Thar, which was completely immersed in water near Delhi. In the past, I have reported numerous instances of Thar owners performing mindless acts. Simply because the Thar is incredibly capable for off-tarmac scenarios, some people think that they can abuse it in any way they wish. However, such a mindset often leads to perilous situations, both for the people and the vehicle. This latest case is a prime example of that.
Watch Mahindra Thar Rescue Another Thar Submerged in Water
This video has been doing the rounds on the internet for the past few hours. The visuals capture a Mahindra Thar, tied to another Thar, which has completely drowned in water. As per the information in the video, this incident took place somewhere in the Aravallis near Delhi. The post also mentions that this was a part of the ‘Gangs of Thars’ group, who keep conducting such excursions. Clearly, things went wrong this time around and the vehicle ended up deep inside the water body.
While the exact reason for this is not known, it is a clear case of overambition and a lack of judgment on the part of the driver. Initially, it is hard to guess the depth of any water body. That is why one must always exercise caution. Perhaps the driver didn’t pay heed to the potential challenges while performing such stunts, which led to this tricky situation. Thankfully, the other Thar is there to rescue it. We see a rope tied to the back of the Thar, with which it is able to pull the other SUV out of the water. We can only hope that no one was injured in this event.
My View
As mentioned previously, I come across such cases relatively frequently. Off-road SUV owners often think they are indestructible. Hence, they try to perform dangerous stunts off-tarmac. I would like to advise our readers to never get involved in such stupid activities. There are high chances that you and your vehicle will have to bear the consequences of such idiotic acts. Also, make sure to not encourage others to do so either.

As someone who has closely followed Mahindra’s off-road culture for over a decade, I can confidently say that while the Thar is among the most capable 4x4s in its segment, it’s not invincible. Many enthusiasts mistake its rugged persona for a license to attempt reckless stunts, which often ends in costly damage or worse. The Indian off-roading scene is maturing, but incidents like this highlight the urgent need for better awareness and responsible adventure driving. True off-roading isn’t about showing off, it’s about skill, judgment, and respect for both the machine and terrain.
