The hatchback has been quite popular in our market despite tough competition from its own kin
In this post, we take a look at the details of the safety ratings of the Maruti Celerio at Global NCAP. We know that Maruti cars have been infamous for scoring low safety ratings. However, in the last couple of years, the Indo-Japanese auto giant has worked tremendously on this aspect. As a result, its latest breed of cars boast high safety scores. For now, let us take a look at the details of how well the Celerio performed.
Maruti Celerio Global NCAP Safety Rating
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio scored a decent 3-star safety rating at the Global NCAP in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and a 2-star rating in Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories. These ratings are based on 18.04 points out of 32 in AOP and 18.57 points out of 49 in COP. The standard equipment list includes 6 airbags, seatbelt pretensioner, seatbelt load-limiter, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), seatbelt reminder (AIS-145) and GTR 9 – UN 127 Pedestrian protection. All these factors contributed to the overall scores.
Talking more specifically, the hatchback obtained 8.050 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 9.993 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test in the AOP section. Additionally, the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was deemed ‘OK’. This was enough for a 3-star rating. On the other hand, the COP section encapsulates a Dynamic Score of 6 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 10.57 out of 12 and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 2 out of 13. This resulted in a decent 2-star safety rating.
My View
Maruti Suzuki has been trying to better its image with regard to the safety ratings. With its newer products, it has been able to achieve that. Therefore, I have positive expectations with the upcoming models. We shall keep an eye out for more details in this regard in the times to come.
