VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 Score 5-star Safety Rating at Bharat NCAP

The two electric SUVs from the Vietnamese car marque attained a perfect score in both Adult and Child protection categories

The VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 have achieved a rather impressive 5-star safety rating at Bharat NCAP. The indigenous crash testing agency is based on the Global NCAP. It puts the made-in-India cars to an extensive and thorough testing to record their behaviour in unfortunate situations. The electric cars have emerged as value propositions in the Indian market for new EV buyers. With this NCAP score, the potential customers will certainly feel a sense of security while purchasing these SUVs. For now, let us delve into the details of this case.

VinFast VF 6 Scores 5-star Safety Rating at Bharat NCAP

Let us begin with the VinFast VF 6. It accomplished a full 5-star safety rating in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and a 5-star rating in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories. Digging a bit deeper, we see that it scored 27.13 points out of 32 in AOP and 44.41 points out of 49 in COP. The standard equipment list includes 7 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts at the rear, seatbelt load-limiter, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) (UN GTR No.8 / UNECE R140 / AIS-133), pedestrian protection (AIS-100) and seatbelt reminder (AIS-145). These safety amenities ensured a full 5-star safety rating across both categories.

Expanding the COP aspect, the VinFast VF 6 scored 11.13 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 16 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. Furthermore, the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was rated ‘OK’. Moreover, in the COP section, the electric SUV secured a Dynamic Score of 22.41 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12, and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 10 out of 13. The two child seat mounts (for an 18-month-old child and a 3-year-old child) are rearward facing.

VinFast VF 7 Scores 5-star Safety Rating at Bharat NCAP

Now, we shall move on to VinFast VF 7. Just like its younger sibling, the VF7 bagged a full 5-star safety rating in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and a 5-star rating in the Child Occupant Protection (COP) segments. This includes a score of 28.54 points out of 32 in AOP and 45.25 points out of 49 in COP. Again, the standard safety equipment list incorporates 7 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts at the rear, seatbelt load-limiter, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) (UN GTR No.8 / UNECE R140 / AIS-133), pedestrian protection (AIS-100) and seatbelt reminder (AIS-145). All these factors combine to offer a full safety rating.

Delving specifically into the COP segment, the VinFast VF 7 obtained 12.54 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 16 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. Also, the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was rated ‘OK’. On the other hand, in the COP category, the VF 7 got a Dynamic Score of 23.25 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12, and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 10 out of 13. The two child seat mounts (for an 18-month-old child and a 3-year-old child) are rearward facing. Overall, it would be intriguing to see the kind of impact these scores will have on the sales numbers of the two EVs.
