The electric SUV space in India is heating up with tons of new products, ensuring a wide range of choice for potential customers
In this post, I am comparing the Maruti e Vitara and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV on the basis of price, specs, design, features, etc. This market segment is gaining immense popularity in India. The e Vitara is the first EV from the Japanese carmaker in the world. Hence, it holds a special place in the history of the brand. Hence, it comes with all the latest bells and whistles. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV is based on its ICE counterpart. In essence, it is the converted iteration of the XUV 3XO. For now, let us compare the two thoroughly.
Maruti e Vitara vs Mahindra XUV 3XO EV – Price Comparison
Let us commence this comparison with the prices. The new Maruti e Vitara is available with a BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) option that significantly lowers the initial acquisition cost. Under this arrangement, the entry price is Rs 10.99 lakh, along with a battery subscription fee of Rs 3.99 per kilometre. Maruti is additionally offering a 60% assured buyback after three years and an 8-year warranty on the battery for greater peace of mind. Customers will also receive a complimentary home charger with installation worth Rs 50,000, plus free charging for the first year. Pricing details for other variants, including those with a full battery purchase, will be announced later. On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV ranges between Rs 13.89 lakh and Rs 14.96 lakh, ex-showroom.

| Base Model | Rs 10.99 lakh + Rs 3.99 per km (Baas) | Rs 13.89 lakh |

Maruti e Vitara vs Mahindra XUV 3XO EV – Specs Comparison
Beginning with the Maruti e Vitara, the electric SUV is based on the company’s new HEARTECT-e architecture and is offered with two battery packs – 49 kWh and 61 kWh. It is presently available in a single-motor, front-wheel-drive layout, although international versions also feature a dual-motor AWD setup. The power and torque figures vary from 142 hp / 193 Nm to 181 hp / 193 Nm, depending on the chosen battery. Maruti states that the larger pack delivers a range of up to 543 km on a full charge, while the smaller one offers a claimed 440 km. With 180 mm of ground clearance, it should handle typical Indian roads and high speed breakers without much concern.
The new Mahindra XUV 3XO is available in two variants – AX5 and AX7L. Both versions are equipped with a 39.4 kWh battery pack, which Mahindra says delivers a real-world range of roughly 285 km on a single charge. This should be adequate for buyers planning to use their EV primarily for daily commutes and routine errands. The electric motor generates a healthy 110 kW (150 PS) and 310 Nm of peak output. As a result, the compact SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds, which is quite impressive for its class. With a 50 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 0 to 80% in around 50 minutes.

From my analysis, this comparison highlights two very different EV philosophies for the Indian buyer. The e Vitara brings a ground-up electric platform, longer range and a disruptive BaaS ownership model that could appeal to cost-sensitive urban customers. The XUV 3XO EV, meanwhile, leverages Mahindra’s strong EV drivetrain performance and feature-loaded packaging for buyers prioritizing punchy performance and familiarity. In today’s evolving market, the choice will ultimately depend on whether customers value range economics or driving excitement more.
