The popular micro SUV comes with some added amenities and tweaked styling to set it apart from the outgoing model
The new 2026 Hyundai Exter has been launched for the Indian market. Note that Exter gained immense popularity ever since its launch back in 2023. People purchased it for its feature-laden cabin, tall-boy SUV-ish stance and healthy in-cabin space for added practicality. Apart from that, the multiple powertrain and transmission options further enhanced its appeal. However, it had been due for an update for a while now. Hence, the Korean auto giant decided to launch the new Exter. Let us check out what it offers in comparison to the previous model.
New 2026 Hyundai Exter Launched – Exterior Styling
Now, while the outgoing model was already quite rugged-looking, the new 2026 Hyundai Exter takes that element even further. The new Exter is the tallest SUV in its class and possesses the longest wheelbase. Additionally, the front fascia is broader than before and the new grille adds a sporty touch. Other new bits include redesigned front and rear bumpers, new 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, a sporty wing-type spoiler, a new tailgate and a new C-pillar garnish. All these components make it enticing for those looking for a sporty micro SUV. The overall dimensions of the Exter are:
| Dimensions (in mm) | New 2026 Hyundai Exter |
| Length | 3,830 |
| Width | 1,723 |
| Height | 1,643 (w/ roof rails) |

From my perspective, Hyundai has once again demonstrated a sharp understanding of what entry-level SUV buyers in India truly value. The 2026 Exter doesnโt rely on mechanical changes but instead doubles down on design tweaks and feature additions, areas that significantly influence buying decisions in this price-sensitive segment. I particularly see the inclusion of segment-first features and enhanced standard safety kit as a strategic move to stay ahead of intense competition from Tata and Maruti. In a market where perceived value often outweighs outright performance, this update should help the Exter maintain its strong foothold.
