Honda has launched the City facelift and unveiled the new flagship ZR-V SUV for the Indian market yesterday
The new Honda ZR-V has been revealed for the Indian market and it will be sold as a CBU. That already indicates the premium pricing due to high import duties. The Japanese carmaker wants to increase its footprint in the market. In the mass market space, it sells just three products – Amaze, City and Elevate. With the updated City, it wants to attract new buyers. On the other hand, with the ZR-V, Honda wants to rival the likes of the VW Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. Clearly, the plans are quite ambitious and it remains to be seen how things shape up. In any case, the pre-bookings for the ZR-V are now open and the deliveries are set to commence in July 2026.
New Honda ZR-V Unveiled – Exterior Styling and Dimensions
The Honda ZR-V carries the latest design philosophy from the Japanese car marque. Going by the dimensions, the SUV is 4,567 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, 1,621 mm high and offers a generous wheelbase of 2,655 mm. These put the ZR-V in a segment just above the regular mid-size SUVs on sale in India. Furthermore, the ZR-V carries a clean yet muscular design that gives it a strong road presence. Up front, the SUV gets sleek LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, a compact grille with vertical slats, the signature Honda logo at the centre, sporty fog lamp housings, and an aggressive-looking bumper with mesh inserts. The side profile looks sporty and premium at the same time, thanks to the sharply designed alloy wheels, black body cladding, rugged wheel arches, dual-tone ORVMs, body-coloured door handles, dark grey window surrounds, and a neatly sloping roofline.
At the rear, the ZR-V gets stylish LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, a shark fin antenna, dual exhaust setup with chrome surrounds, and a sporty bumper with reflector elements. Overall, the SUV manages to look modern and sophisticated while still retaining a practical family SUV appeal. Apart from that, practicality remains one of the strong points of the ZR-V, with a boot space of around 380 litres that can be expanded up to 1,312 litres by folding the rear seats. Despite its sporty styling cues and bold stance, the ZR-V has been designed to comfortably cater to everyday family-oriented usage. Overall, the SUV will have a distinct road presence.

New Honda ZR-V Unveiled – Expected Price
Now, the official prices have not been announced yet. Nevertheless, it is clear that the CBU route will ensure exotic pricing. We expected the SUV to range somewhere between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom. That will put it at par with vehicles like the VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. In any case, the exact details will arrive in the coming months.

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor
Having followed Honda’s trajectory in India for decades, I believe the ZR-V represents the brand’s attempt to re-establish itself in the premium SUV space with a more global and aspirational product. What stands out to me is Honda’s focus on hybrid technology and refinement rather than outright aggression, which has always been a core strength of the brand. However, the Indian market has become extremely competitive in this price bracket, where buyers also value road presence, features and strong brand perception. In my view, the ZR-V could appeal strongly to urban premium buyers looking for sophistication and efficiency, but pricing will ultimately play a crucial role in determining its success.
