New Maruti XL6 Facelift Spied Testing

The Indian automobile market is expanding rapidly with tons of new model launches across segments each year

In this post, we take a look at the details of the upcoming Maruti XL6 facelift that could grace our markets pretty soon. XL6 is among the most successful models in its class. It has remained a strong product on the sales charts courtesy of huge demand among private individuals, as well as commercial fleet operators. That has been its biggest attraction. Due to the fact that it carries the Maruti Suzuki brand image, there is a certain level of assurance in the minds of the buyers that they will get a product which is reliable, offers low running and maintenance costs and is backed by an immensely dense touchpoint network across the country.

New Maruti XL6 Facelift To Launch Soon?

The latest spy shots come from Vietnam, where it is sold as the XL7. In any case, the product is more or less the same. Hence, we can easily deduce some design cues, which we could witness on the XL6 facelift. At the front, we see a bolder fascia in comparison to the existing model. This includes a thick grille section with blingy chrome elements, which neatly merge into the sleek LED headlamps on either side. The headlamp cluster itself looks quite decorated with shiny components. Even LED DRLs are integrated inside the headlights to make a solid impression.

Down below, the rugged skid plate adds an adventure flavour. Also, the fog lamps are positioned on the extreme edges of the bumper. On the sides, the sheer length of the XL6 comes to the fore. It gets black side pillars, functional roof rails, sporty 16-inch alloy wheels and rugged wheel arches and side body skirtings. Finally, the exterior styling is complete with a bold tail section. This incorporates a peculiar roof-mounted spoiler, vertically-oriented LED taillamps that are connected via a black panel for a smoked effect, a sporty bumper and a sturdy skid plate. All in all, the Maruti XL6 facelift could look more muscular if these elements are encapsulated into its design philosophy this time around.

New Maruti XL6 Facelift – Interior and Features

Sadly, we don’t have access to the cabin of the Maruti XL6 facelift just yet. Still, going by the latest appearance of Maruti cars, we can safely assume that it will carry the modern amenities in terms of design, layout, configuration and tech. That is something new-age carmakers appreciate in their vehicles. Hence, we can expect things like a large touchscreen infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, faux leather upholstery, 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, cruise control, hill start assist, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, part-digital driver’s instrument cluster, use of high-quality materials for dashboard, door panels and centre console, premium audio system, 6-seat layout with captain seats, height adjustable seats, and much more. The exact details about the specific features will surface closer to the launch.

New Maruti XL6 Facelift – Specs

The Maruti XL6 at present uses the familiar 1.5-litre mill, which also powers other Maruti products around this price point. I don’t expect any changes to the powertrain and transmission combinations even on the facelift version. Hence, we would see the 1.5-litre K Series 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild hybrid tech, which generates a decent 103 PS and 137 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. One can choose between either a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Apart from that, we will most likely continue to get the XL6 facelift in the CNG avatar too, where the power and torque figures drop to 88 PS and 121.5 Nm, respectively. It can only be had with a 5-speed manual gearbox. These are extremely fuel-efficient mills with claimed mileage numbers of 20.97 km/l with petrol manual, 20.27 km/l with petrol automatic and 26.32 km/kg with the CNG version.

Expected Price

The price of a vehicle plays a crucial role in the Indian market. At present, the Maruti XL6 ranges from Rs 11.52 lakh to Rs 14.47 lakh, ex-showroom. These are some attractive prices for vehicles in this space. Hence, we can expect the facelift iteration to bear a slight premium over these costs. In any case, the XL6 will continue to attract buyers due to its value-for-money proposition.

The Maruti XL6 facelift appears to be a sensible evolution of an already successful formula rather than a complete overhaul. The updated styling seen in the spy images gives the MPV a more premium and SUV-inspired appearance, which should help it stay relevant in a competitive market. If Maruti also introduces a few feature upgrades inside the cabin, the XL6 will become an even more compelling choice for family buyers. Combined with its proven 1.5-litre engine, impressive fuel efficiency and extensive service network, the facelifted XL6 is likely to continue attracting value-conscious customers across India.
