In the fast lanes of Bollywood, the love affair with cars is unending. Just a month after Big B Amitabh Bachchan added a Land Rover Defender to his collection, his look-alike, Shashikant, buys a white Tata Safari facelift. This revelation of sorts comes from the Instagram account of copycat Bachchan, where we found pics and videos of him taking delivery of the new SUV.

Lookalike Amitabh Bachchan Drives Home a Tata Safari Facelift
Amitabh Bachchan 2.0, or rather, Shashikant, got the keys of his new vehicle last month. He likens his purchase with the actual Big B recently brining home the mighty Land Rover Defender 130. The connection between the two cars goes beyond both of them being pretty big SUVs. Both come from the Tata family, with Jaguar Land Rover being under the Tata Group’s ownership.

New Styling but Same Specifications
The Tata Safari, a symbol of Indian automotive prowess, recently got its mid-life facelift. In comparison to the old model, the new SUV gets a full-width LED strip running between the LED DRLs. Even the headlamps are new and so is the bumper. The grille is now more elegant. The 18-inch alloys on the earlier model have given way to 19-inchers. The rear-end features an LED strip running between the LED taillamps. Inside, the cabin gets a new-age steering wheel with a digital log on the steering boss. The dashboard is new and so is the instrument cluster. Taking centre stage on the dashboard is a large floating-type touchscreen infotainment unit. Also, the Safari gets ADAS functions for the first time ever.
Mechanically, the Safari remains the same. It continues to draw power form the 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo diesel engine, which outputs 170 PS and 350 Nm. Transmission options also stay the same, offering a choice between a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. However, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine option could launch in the near future. The Safari facelift is priced between Rs 16.19 lakh and Rs 27.34 lakh, ex-showroom.

Shashikant Dreams of Owning a Land Rover Defender
The journey from Ratan Tata’s manager owning the new Tata Safari to Shashikant acquiring one reflects the high appeal of the new SUV. Interestingly, though, Shashikant, the Big B doppelganger, is not just content with owning the new SUV. He aspires to own the Land Rover Defender someday, exactly like the actor he idolises.
