Australian Expert Compares Toyota Land Cruiser and Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up

A pertinent Australian expert has the Toyota Land Cruiser and Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up for a torture test. He compares how well each of these vehicles perform. Now, Mahindra is a prominent Indian carmaker that has been selling cars in Australia for a while now. It offers SUVs ranging from hardcore utilitarian cars like the Scorpio Pik-up to modern urban SUVs like the XUV700. On the other hand, the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series is one of the most renowned and successful pickup trucks in the world. Let us see how these compare against one another.

Australian Compares Toyota Land Cruiser with Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up

This post comes from CarExpert on YouTube. It captures the host with these two capable pickup trucks. He tests the performance of each of these across multiple terrains. To start with, he loads each pickup truck upto its respective maximum load-bearing capacity. Then, he takes the pickups on the highway and up a slope. The Land Cruiser was the more powerful of the two and glided over the slope comfortably. However, the host mentions that it doesn’t feel all that great while steering. On the other hand, the Scorpio pik-up was almost to its limit when it came to acceleration on the slope. But it never got uncomfortable and the manoeuverability is slightly better than the Land Cruiser.

A similar experience was recorded for regular highway rides. The Scorpio Pik-up was a bit more comfortable than the Land Cruiser. However, in the latter part of the video, both pickup trucks were driven on a cobbled path which is designed to simulate lifetime impact on suspension and components. The 2 km patch was severely bumpy. Again, while both SUVs complete the task convincingly, the cabin of the Scorpio Pik-up was a better place to be in. In fact, the passenger seat of the Land Cruiser seemed like it would fly out of place due to the vibrations. All in all, both SUVs demonstrated why they are among the best in the business.

Author’s Note

The host mentions that it is not worth spending twice the money on the Toyota Land Cruiser when you can purchase the Mahindra Scorpio Pik-up at almost half of that. Scorpio Pik-up was able to do just about everything that the Land Cruiser did. It is just that the towing capacity of the Land Cruiser is slightly higher than the Scorpio Pik-up which is why it even gets a more powerful engine. Apart from that, there is absolutely no reason to spend that kind of premium on the Land Cruiser. We agree with the inference of the host.
