India is home to some of the extremely wealthy entrepreneurs, Bollywood stars and cricketers in the country
In a rather astounding turn of events, a prominent businessman in Rajasthan gifted his son a swanky Audi RS Q8 with a numberplate, which costs what a top trim of the Mahindra XEV 9e retails for. That is quite impressive, but strange. Some people love to spend so much on numberplates. This topic is quite popular all around the world. We keep hearing stories about the bidding process for VVIP numberplates not just in India, but in many parts of the globe. For now, let us delve into the details of this latest instance.
Businessman Gifts Rs 2.32 Crore Audi RS Q8 to Son, Purchases Number Worth Over Mahindra XEV 9e
This post stems from jaipur.waley_ on Instagram. The caption of the story informs us that the cost of this special numberplate – RJ60 CM 1 – is a whopping Rs 31 lakh. Checking the ex-showroom price of the flagship Mahindra electric SUV reveals that it bears a price tag of Rs 31.25 lakh. What is also noteworthy is the fact that this number was purchased to be installed on a new Audi RS Q8, which costs Rs 2.32 Crore, ex-showroom in India. To spend around 15% of the price of the car on the number plate is simply mind-boggling.
As per the information in the post, we come to know this car was bought by an eminent entrepreneur in Rajasthan, Rahul Taneja, as a gift for his son. Prior to buying this luxury SUV with a fancy number plate, he even got a Jaguar and a BMW. He is famous for being the person who rose from a humble background. He started his first job by working in a dhaba for a salary of Rs 150. However, his hard work and unending determination brought him to a place where he ended up buying multiple luxury cars with VIP numberplates worth lakhs. In 2011, he acquired a special number plate worth Rs 10 lakh for his BMW. Clearly, this is an inspiring story and people should take motivation from it.
My View
Over the years, I have reported many cases of rags-to-riches stories for our readers. I understand that such cases don’t happen all that often. Still, these give hope to many people who might be currently struggling in their lives. You must always be willing to do the hard work and never give up. That is the key to success. Sure, not everyone can become extremely wealthy, but your efforts will surely pull you out of your challenging environment.

Having tracked India’s luxury car scene for over a decade and a half, I’ve seen how emotional and status-driven our relationship with automobiles can be. The Audi RS Q8 is already a statement of success, but spending over Rs 30 lakh on a registration number takes exclusivity to another level. This isn’t just about vanity, it reflects how deeply aspirational ownership culture runs in India’s evolving automotive landscape, where symbols of achievement often carry as much weight as the machines themselves.
