Dark Edition trims are generally aimed at those customers who want their vehicles to bear a sporty appearance
I recently experienced the Citroen Aircross Dark Edition in the flesh. The French carmaker has launched the Dark Edition versions of the C3, Aircross and Basalt. The aim is to offer a sporty iteration of each of these to fetch new buyers. Citroen has been relentlessly trying to grab more customers. However, the stiff competition has dented its sales. Nevertheless, with special edition models, it is working towards staying at par with the rivals. Let us take a look at the details here.
Citroen Aircross Dark Edition Detailed
As expected, the Citroen Aircross Dark Edition gets an all-black exterior theme with the Perla Nera Black paint. At the front, we see dark chrome elements on the Chevron logo along with a gloss black bumper and grille. Similarly, the side section carries the Dark Edition badge on the fenders. Also, the black side body claddings, wheel arches and window frames add to the black treatment. Finally, the tail section contains a silver skid plate along with blacked-out bits. All in all, the SUV bears an imposing road presence.
On the inside, there aren’t any new features on offer. That, in my view, is a bit of a missed opportunity to challenge the rivals. Apart from that, the leatherette upholstery contains black and red elements. Also, the dashboard consists of red stitching on the black materials, which lends it a sporty and attractive vibe. Furthermore, there is Dark Edition engraved on the seats along with contrasting stitching. The buyers will definitely like this dark theme, which is also great for maintenance.
Specs and Price
The Citroen Aircross Dark Edition bears a premium of Rs 19,500 on the corresponding trim on the standard model. Also, there has been no change to the powertrain either. Hence, it continues to draw power from either a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates a decent 83 PS and 115 Nm or a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill, which churns out a decent 110 PS and 190 Nm (205 Nm with the automatic transmission) of peak power and torque, respectively. One can choose between a manual or an automatic transmission. Hence, the needs of all sorts of buyers can be met. Note that the Dark Edition is available only with the turbo petrol mill. The prices of the Dark Edition lineup start at Rs 13.13 lakh and go up to Rs 14.27 lakh, ex-showroom.
