In an inspiring tale of a 14-year-old cricket prodigy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the government of Bihar ended up splurging on gifts to commemorate his incredible performance. Vaibhav was born on March 27, 2011, in Tajpur in the Mithila region of Bihar. Reportedly, he began his cricket training at a young age of 4. In the IPL, he has been involved with the Rajasthan Royals since last year. Furthermore, he plays for Bihar in the domestic circuit. In September 2024, he made his debut for India U-19 against Australia. Remarkably, he scored a century in just 58 balls, the fastest for an Indian U-19 ever. His achievements have brought him into the limelight.
Cricket Prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi Gets Rs 50 Lakh and Tata Curvv as Gift
As per the latest news reports, his performances have been in the public domain for a while now. As a result, the Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, handed him a prize money of Rs 50 lakh. Moreover, he was also presented with a Tata Curvv. Funnily enough, he can only drive it after crossing the legal age of 18 years. In any case, this showcases just how popular cricket is in India even at the root level. The fact that the government is recognizing such talented players at an early stage is great for the future of Indian cricket.
Nitish Kumar also highlighted the state government’s efforts to develop modern, world-class sports infrastructure and provide better facilities to support emerging athletes. The Chief Minister described Vaibhav’s journey as an inspiration for the youth of Bihar and wished him a successful future. Adding to the celebrations, Vaibhav received a premium Tata car as a gift. The vehicle was handed over at a Tata showroom in Patna, where he arrived with his father to take delivery. Several senior officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, ministers, and top bureaucrats, were present at the felicitation समारोह, making it a proud moment for the state and its sporting community.
