The Japanese auto giant has some huge plans for the Indian market in the next couple of years
The Honda Civic Type R might well be the new hot hatch in India within the next couple of years. We know that the Civic Type R is one of the most prominent performance cars in the world. It holds an eminent legacy among driving aficionados across the globe. In fact, it represents the best Honda has to offer in this regard. Apart from that, there will also be an electric SUV in India, most likely by next year, and a super hybrid vehicle by 2027. Let us glance at the details of this post here.
Honda Confirms Civic Type R For India
We recently conducted an exclusive interview with Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd. In the detailed conversation, he revealed plans to bring high-performance cars to our shores. These will be CBU units, which means they will bear hefty price tags and be limited in numbers. Mr. Kunal didn’t specifically mention the Civic Type R, but when we asked about this model, he confirmed that the Japanese car marque will bring in such high-performance vehicles. I believe the recently launched VW Golf GTI could have something to do with this plan.
Honda Civic Type R
The Honda Civic Type R has been in production since 1997 across various international markets. It has been on offer in hatchback and sports sedan avatars. Over the years, it has redefined performance for a mass market brand like Honda. While we expect such vehicles from the luxury and performance car brands, this is an exception from Honda. Nevertheless, it has attained immense success by combining everyday practicality, exhilarating driving dynamics, with relative affordability for a whole bunch of populations in many nations.
In its current avatar, it possesses a potent 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol mill which churns out an outrageous 315 hp and 420 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. It boasts a redline of 7000 RPM, which demonstrates its high-revving nature. Performing transmission duties is a 6-speed manual gearbox with Rev-Match Control for smooth gearshifts and manual control. Furthermore, it gets an adaptive damper system, Power-Assisted, Ventilated, Two-Piece Front Disc/Solid Rear Disc Brakes, Brembo 4-Piston Aluminum Front Brake Calipers, 19-inch matte black wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and much more. This makes it one of the most lethal cars on the streets.
