Ford Figo Aspire First Look Review

By now it has become fairly well known that the Indian subsidiary of Ford has been busy readying a new compact sedan for its Indian innings. Christened as the Ford Figo Aspire, the upcoming compact sedan is basically a sedan-derivative of the latest generation Ka/Figo hatchback. The Figo Aspire will go on sale in a couple of months and production of the soon to be launched car has already commenced. Ford India will be seen betting big on its first-ever compact sedan and in all likelihood, the Figo Aspire will be a worthy rival of the high selling Maruti Swift Dzire. Design

From the looks of it, the Ford Figo Aspire will soon become the most well designed compact sedan out there. Thanks to Ford Kinetic 2.0 design language, the car will get several catchy design features such as the Aston-Martin-esque grille and the sharp looking headlights. Unlike most other cars in this segment, which look like hastily ‘sedan-ized’ versions of their donor hatchbacks, the Figo Aspire looks a lot more sophisticated, even towards its rear-end.

Features

The Figo Aspire could become the most loaded car in its segment with features like the SYNC infotainment, dual front, side and curtain airbags and ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic brake force distribution). Much like other SYNC-equipped models, even the Aspire will get the SYNC Emergency Assist system that automatically dials 108 thru a paired phone in event of a crash. The car’s SYNC system features a 3.5-inch TFT screen, Bluetooth and several telephony features.

The variant-wise features list is as follows:

• Ambiente– Rear fog lamps, fabric upholstery, 14 inch steel wheels, 12 V power outlet, follow-me home headlamps, manual aircon, front power windows, dual airbags, remote locking, tilt adjust steering.
• Trend (In addition to the above)- Front fog lamps, fabric door inserts, rear centre armrest, steering mounted controls, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, rear power windows, my Ford Dock, stereo with AUX, USB and Bluetooth.
• Titanium (In addition to the above)- Rear defogger, climate control, driver seat height adjust, ESP, traction control, hill start assist, seatbelt reminder and height adjust, 14 inch alloy wheels.
• Titanium+ (In addition to the above)- leather seats, CD/MP3 player, 4.2 inch multifunction display, Ford SYNC with voice command, Ford MYKEY, side and curtain airbags

Engines

The Ford Figo Aspire will go on sale in both petrol and diesel engine options. Powering the petrol variants of the Figo Aspire will be a new TiVCT  (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing) equipped 1.2-litre motor will produce around 86 bhp of maximum power and 112 Nm of peak torque. The Figo Aspire Diesel will get the same 1.5-liter TDCI turbocharged diesel motor that powers the Fiesta and the EcoSport. This engine pumps out a maximum power of 98.6 bhp and a peak torque of 215 Nm. However, the highlight of the Aspire’s engine options list will be a 1.5-litre petrol motor that will come mated to a six-speed Powershift six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
