After burning its fingers with the Impulse back at the start of the last decade, Hero MotoCorp has managed to hit the sweet spot with Hero Xpulse

Launched in 2019, the Hero XPulse has appealed to all those looking for an affordable dual-sport motorcycle that is not just easy to purchase but also easy to maintain. The motorcycle shares some of its parts with the Xtreme but still manages to hold its own with the highly capable nature off the track. It’s also been updated a couple of times and has got more refined over all these years. While it’s surely an affordable alternative to the RE Himalayan and Yezdi Adventure, it can do with some more power. The Hero Xpulse 400 concept we have below is exactly what the doctor’s ordered.

A brainchild of abin_designs_511 on Instagram, the Hero Xpulse 400 has the big bike look of the BMW G310 GS. In fact, it looks eve a tad bigger than the RE Himalayan as well as the Yezdi Adventure. Much of this is due to the fact that the front-end of the concept carries huge tank shrouds and a bigger beak. Even the headlamp is revised and is flanked by a pretty big flyscreen. Moving further, the fuel tank is bigger and even the seat seems to be a tad wider. As the name suggests, the motorcycle has a 4000cc heart that will offer the kind of grunt one would expect from a middleweight dual-sport motorcycle.

For reference, the recently updated Hero Xpulse 200 4V comes with a new engine that carries a 4-valve head. Also, along with getting a revised engine, the motorcycle even received an LED headlamp along with an improved oil-cooling system. The engine now outputs a maximum power of 19.1 PS @ 8500 RPM along with a peak torque of 17.35 Nm @ 6500 RPM. While the improved power and torque figures come in handy during challenging riding conditions, there’s certainly no harm having an extra punch from a 400cc motor. Currently the 200 4V has been priced at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom).ย

Also, with the recent update, the Hero Xpulse now even comes with a segment-first fully-digital instrument cluster that can be paired with Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to provide the user with call alerts as well as turn-by-turn navigation assist. Other features of the new instrumentation include a gear indicator, Eco mode notification and dual trip meters. Other features of the updated motorcycle include a USB charger, luggage plate with bungee hooks, protective windscreen and a re-bolstered seat.ย
