Honda Elevate Without Panoramic Sunroof

Honda might be the last entrant into the highly popular and fast-expanding mid-size SUV segment in India, but it is making sure that it leaves no stone unturned to taste success.

Hyundai Creta-rivalling Honda Elevate will not have a large panoramic sunroof but a regular, single-pane unit. That has been confirmed by the official teaser images shared by Honda, where the top view is being presented. Honda has been doing well in our market for years but in the last couple of years, it is just riding the success on the back of its mega-popular City sedan. Finally, the time has come to introduce new models in our market and the Japanese carmaker has chosen the mid-size SUV segment for that. Here are the details of its upcoming SUV slated for the world premiere on June 6, 2023.

Honda Elevate Won’t Have Panoramic Sunroof like Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta

The latest image of the SUV captures the top view from where the shark fin antenna, roof rails, and the regular electric sunroof are visible. This gives us the indication that it won’t have the larger unit which the Hyundai Creta gets. Note that the upcoming facelift version of the Kia Seltos will most likely get the Panoramic Sunroof too. Hence, it could be a miss by the Japanese car marque despite knowing how much people love the large sunroofs in our market.

It is no secret that Indians love sunroofs in their cars. That is the reason why so many car marques have started offering them even on their relatively lower-segment cars. In fact, car companies have commenced providing sunroofs in mid trims of a car’s lineup. It offers a sense of roominess inside the cabin removing the issue for people who feel claustrophobic in tight spaces. However, some people also misuse them by hanging out of them while the vehicle is in motion. That can not only be perilous to the health but is also illegal.

Specs

Elevate will share the powertrain options with the City. This means that we will see a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine developing 121 hp and 145 Nm and a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine with a strong hybrid system generating 109 hp and 253 Nm of peak power and torque. The former comes with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic while the latter will come paired with a sole e:CVT automatic transmission. There might also be a 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill churning out 120 hp and 173 Nm of peak power and torque.
