Honda Elevate Outsells Skoda Kushaq in August 2023

In the ever-growing SUG market, competition gets fiercer with the launch of any new model . Also, with almost all carmakers jumping into the fray, shifts in market trends are pretty regular. August 2023 was no different. As per the data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the Honda Elevate outsold the Skoda Kushaq by some margin. However, before we get to number-crunching, it’s crucial to mention that these figures represent dealer dispatches. Hence, the actual sales figures may vary. Additionally, the sales data for new models can be skewed as dealers often stock up on inventory during the initial months. Honda Elevate Clocks 2,822 Unit Sale

In its first month in the market, the Honda Elevate could manage a sale of 2,822 units. With this, it sold more copies than the Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun and MG Astor. On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara continue to be the most popular offerings. Even the Hyryder sold more copies than the Elevate. However, the Elevate has been to a sufficiently decent start and could help Honda consolidate its position in the highly challenging Indian market.

Cumulative Sales of VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq Higher Than Honda Elevate

On the other hand, Skoda sold 2,409 units of its popular Kushaq during the same period. While the Kushaq continues to be the most popular model of its carmaker, it could face stiff competition from the Honda Elevate in the time to come. That said, the Kushaq and the VW Taigun put together have outsold the Honda Elevate as well as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Dealer Dispatches vs. Actual Sales

It’s crucial to emphasize that the figures mentioned are dealer dispatches. These numbers reflect the units sent to dealerships but do not necessarily represent the actual sale to end consumers. The actual sales figures might differ due to factors like inventory management, dealer promotions, and customer demand. Therefore, while the Honda Elevate showed promising results, a more accurate comparison can only be made once the actual sales figures are available. Dealers often stock up on new models in the initial months of their launch to meet the anticipated demand. This practice can lead to a temporary boost in dispatch numbers.
