The drag race trend continues and this time, the competition is between different powertrains of the same vehicle. Yes, we are talking about the Creta diesel 1.6 and the petrol 1.5.

This video captures a unique drag race of the Hyundai Creta between its diesel and petrol powertrains. Now, Creta is one of the most popular mid-size SUVs in the country and has been for a long time. Here, the diesel version is the last-gen version with an automatic gearbox, while the petrol is the latest-gen model with a manual gearbox. Let us check out if we are in for a surprise or if the result is a foregone conclusion.

Hyundai Creta Diesel & Petrol – Drag Race

The YouTuber has found an empty stretch of road to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The diesel is the much powerful of the two but the petrol power output is not too bad either. In the first attempt, the diesel variant trounces the petrol unit convincingly. This was somewhat expected with the initial turbo boost of the diesel model. In the second attempt, however, the result remained the same but the difference between the two SUVs was much more significant. The manual control of the Creta petrol was expected to perform better than what it did. But the sheer gap between the two was surprising to most people standing there.

Specs

In the latest-gen model, the Hyundai Creta petrol gets a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that produces 115 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit that also produces 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The third and the most exciting engine on offer is the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol T-GDI engine that produces 143 PS and 242 Nm and comes with a 7-speed DCT. The prices of the current-gen model range between Rs 10.23 lakh and Rs 17.94 lakh, ex-showroom.
