The EV segment in India is heating up as we expect tons of new models within the next couple of years

In this post, we shall discuss all that we know about the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV ahead of its official debut. Creta is an iconic moniker in India. In the ICE iteration, it is the highest-selling mid-size SUV in the country. That is particularly impressive since the list of rivals is extensive. In fact, every major carmaker in the country offers a product in this category. Hence, to say at the top among such worthy rivals is nothing short of impressive. For now, let us take a look at what we think the Hyundai Creta EV would come with.

Hyundai Creta EV to Debut Next Month

As per various reports online, we might be able to glance at the electric mid-size SUV at the Bharat Auto Expo in January 2025. Hence, the debut is around the corner which is why we keep spotting it with a heavy camouflage from time to time. Judging by these spy images, we expect a slight differentiation in the exterior styling in comparison to its ICE counterpart. For instance, the front and rear bumpers and fascia will bear a few distinctions. Also, the Creta EV will boast a new set of alloy wheels which will be aero-optimized. Moreover, there will be dedicated badges around the body to confirm its electric credentials.

While the exterior silhouette will largely be the same, we can expect this trend on the inside as well. But that is not a bad thing since the ICE Creta is already among the most feature-rich SUVs in its class. The Creta EV will definitely carry on all those amenities including dual displays (one for the driver’s instrument cluster and one for infotainment), Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and more. Also, the overall cabin layout will most likely be borrowed from the regular Creta too. What remains to be seen is the kind of powertrain, battery, range, etc., the Hyundai Creta EV will offer.

My View

The Indian EV industry is expanding rapidly. This includes the number of electric car models, the charging infrastructure, new price strategies to make EVs more affordable like BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) and more. In fact, the latest news incorporates new-age Mahindra EVs based on the new all-electric INGLO platform. With Tata Motors and MG already posting healthy sales numbers, the immediate future certainly looks exciting. We shall keep an eye out for more developments in this regard.
