Hyundai i20 Starting Price

The Hyundai i20 is arguably the most feature-laden product in its category

The Hyundai i20 lineup has become more accessible to a wider range of potential customers with a new starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Interestingly, this is the same as its chief competitor, the Maruti Baleno. i20 has always redefined what a premium hatchback should be. It pushed the envelope with each new avatar with tons of new-age tech and convenience amenities, safety features, bold styling and multiple powertrain and transmission alternatives. That is what makes it so popular among the buyers.

The base variant of the Hyundai i20 is called Era. This reminds us of the established nomenclature of the Hyundai cars from the past. Despite being the base model, there are many key components for the owners. Some of the main highlights include:

  • 6 Airbags
  • Fully Digital Instrument Cluster
  • Front and Rear Skid Plates
  • Body-coloured ORVMs
  • Body-coloured Door Handles
  • Type-C USB Charger
  • Telescopic Steering Wheel Adjustment

In addition to Era, the Magna Executive and other Magna variants are now available at Rs 6.74 lakh and Rs 6.99 lakh, ex-showroom. These possess a combination of tech, safety and affordability with things like a shark fin antenna, Highline Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), automatic headlamps, telescopic steering, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVM, and steering wheel with audio & Bluetooth controls, an electric sunroof, LED DRLs, rear AC vents and front armrest with storage.

I am certain that many Hyundai car owners will appreciate the new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with a rear camera, as a Dealer Installed Option (DIO) at an attractive price of INR 14,999, backed by a 3-year warranty. Finally, the standard 3-year/1,00,000 km warranty remains intact to ensure peace of mind and a great ownership experience.

rom my perspective, this move by Hyundai is a smart and timely recalibration rather than a mere price cut. By pegging the i20’s entry price at ₹5.99 lakh, right alongside the Baleno, Hyundai is clearly signalling that premium hatchback buyers no longer have to compromise on features or safety for affordability. The inclusion of 6 airbags and a digital cluster even on the base Era variant reinforces Hyundai’s strong grasp of evolving Indian buyer priorities. In a fiercely competitive segment, this pricing strategy strengthens the i20’s value proposition and puts real pressure back on rivals.
