The Korean auto giant wants to boost its electric car portfolio in India further after the resounding success of the EV6. The EV9 showcases Kia’s top-notch advancements in future transportation. With its sleek and modern exterior design and a mix of recycled materials and advanced technology inside, it sets a high standard. As Kia’s first 7-seat electric SUV, the EV9 is constructed on the specialized Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), demonstrating the brand’s dedication to innovative design and eco-friendly practices. Kia EV9 Contender for 2024 World Car Awards

As per the official press release from Kia, “The 2024 Kia EV9 has been named as a Top Three in the World finalist in two categories for the upcoming 2024 World Car Awards.” That is a testament to its capabilities and appeal. Reaching this position and being selected by experienced critics confirms that it offers unique all-around amenities to the potential owners. Note that it is on sale in a few international markets already. In fact, the ownership experiences and expert reviews are already quite promising. It will be interesting to see if it can win the prestigious award.

Specs

The EV9 has already had its global debut, so we have some basic information about it. The concept version of the EV9 is about 4,930 mm long, 2,055 mm wide, and 1,790 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. It can travel approximately 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge, thanks to its 77 kWh battery. Some may find this battery size a bit small for such a big SUV. The EV9 offers both 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD) options. Its charging system is designed to support a DC ultra-fast charger with 350 kW power, capable of charging the battery from 10% to 80% in just 20-30 minutes.
