Maruti Fronx J-NCAP Rating

The Indian-made Fronx commenced export operations to Japan in October last year

Maruti Suzuki Fronx has received an impressive 4 stars at the J-NCAP test. Note that the Japanese New Car Assessment Program is a thorough testing procedure. Therefore, to score decent ratings on this is quite promising. It also represents that Maruti Suzuki has been working really hard to ensure that its latest products offer high levels of safety to the owners. We know that Indian car buyers have become particularly conscious about the safety ratings and equipment in their cars. For now, let us take a look at the specifics here.

Made-in-India Maruti Fronx Bags 4 Stars at J-NCAP

Overall, the Maruti Fronx was able to accumulate 163.75 points out of 193.8. This marks a decent 84%. Bifurcating this score, the crossover bagged 79.42 points out of 85.8 in preventive safety performance. This comes out to be a healthy 92%. In the collision safety performance tests, it clocked 76.33 points out of 100, which is 76%. Finally, the made-in-India Maruti Fronx secured full 8 points out of 8 in the automatic emergency call system. The driver and co-driver seats got Level 4 and Level 5 ratings, respectively, in the rear-end crash tests. In the pedestrian safety section, it got Level 3 in head protection and Level 5 in leg protection.

The J-NCAP included multiple tests like full-wrap frontal collision, partial frontal collision, side impact test, rear collision test, active and passive safety tests and more. In the frontal offset crash, it managed to score 21.08 points out of 24. On the side barrier test, the Maruti Fronx achieved a Level 5 rating at a speed of 55 km/h. Similarly, it got a Level 5 rating in the full-wrap front collision test at 50 km/h before a direct head-on crash. No significant deformation of the passenger cell was observed. The airbag deployment, seat belt pretensioners, and energy absorption structure worked optimally.

Furthermore, the Level 2 ADAS also helped boost the score for the crossover. In addition to the autonomous emergency braking, where it scored a full Level 5 rating, the lane departure system also had the same score. However, in the autonomous braking at intersections, it only managed a Level 3 rating. Then, it scored a Level 4 rating in the high-performance headlight score, while in the pedal misapplication prevention test, it bagged Level 4. The standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, electronic stability program, hill-hold assist and a 360-degree camera.
