Mahindra and Mahindra, the popular Indian UV maker, is about to launch yet another facelift for its popular small SUV, the Scorpio. The facelift will aim to revive the fortunes of this SUV on the monthly sales charts. It’s noteworthy here that the Scorpio has been posting dwindling numbers owing to increased heat from the fresher, and arguably better, competition. The new Mahindra Scorpio facelift 2017 will launch during this year’s festive season. Prices are likely to remain more or less the same. Also, we expect a significant change in the specifications and mileage along the new model will certainly feature many updates on its exterior and the interior, too.

The new Mahindra Scorpio 2017 will carry cosmetic changes both on its exterior and the interior. The exterior is very likely to get a comprehensively updated front-end. This will bring in a set of new headlights, new front fenders, new bumper, and a new front grille. The interior is also likely to get a host of changes. These should include an upholstery change, new trim for the dashboard and probably a revised center console. We also expect the cabin to benefit from additional features. Mahindra and Mahindra might finally introduce a touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

The Scorpio has been by now through several updates. The upcoming facelift will once again bring in a host of styling updates, which should come together to give this SUV a fresher look. Specifications will see a major update in the form of the 2.2-litre Diesel engine from the XUV500. This means the maximum power and torque will be rated at 140 BHP and 330 Nm respectively. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Mileage figures will see a slight dip owing to additional power. Expect a claimed average mileage of around 17 kmpl.

The Scorpio has been among the oldest players in the segment. It has also significantly contributed towards Mahindra’s overall sales figures in the passenger car market. In its hay days, the Scorpio was seen stealing away all the limelight from the Tata Safari. However, the onslaught of small SUVs, like the Renault Duster, saw this Mahindra SUV losing out to the new competition. All this could change with the advent of the new Mahindra Scorpio 2017 facelift.

Mahindra Scorpio Facelift 2017 Launch Date

Launch Date November 2017

Mahindra and Mahindra is yet to announce the launch date of the new Scorpio 2017. However, there are very good chances that the facelift will go on sale as soon as next month. The new model will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. The upcoming model is a major facelift that will keep the Scorpio relevant in the market until the advent of an all-new model in 2020. A festive season launch should help the SUV take off to a smooth start by benefitting from increased sales during this time of the year.

Mahindra Scorpio Facelift 2017 Price in India

Model Name Estimated Ex-Showroom Price
Minimum Price Rs. 8 lakh
Maximum Price Rs. 12 lakh

Prices of the new Mahindra Scorpio facelift 2017 are likely to remain more or less the same. We are expecting a starting price of roughly Rs 10 lakh. The top-end model could cost in tune of Rs 12 lakh. The top-end model, which will offer many new connectivity features along with a touchscreen infotainment unit, could witness the maximum price hike owing to the addition of many new features. Also, the 2017 facelift should mark the debut of an all-new petrol engine. The company earlier offered a Renault-sourced petrol engine on the Scorpio. However, low demand, along with poor fuel efficiency, led to the demise of the petrol variant.

Power 140 BHP
Torque 330 Nm

While the new Mahindra Scorpio facelift 2017 will look fresher and offer more features, there will be significant updates even under the hood. The Scorpio facelift 2017 will mark the debut of the petrol engine variant. Speculations have been rife that the company has been working on as new 2.2-litre turbo petrol engine for the Scorpio and the XUV500. With petrol cars gaining some popularity, it is understandable that the manufacturer would want to benefit from the trend. The petrol engine will be based on the 2.2-litre Diesel engine and will output roughly 155 BHP and 280 Nm. The engine will come mated to both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

Mahindra Scorpio Facelift 2017 Mileage

Minimum Mileage 13 kmpl
Maximum Mileage 17 kmpl

Even though the 2017 Scorpio will get a more powerful engine, it doesn’t look like the mileage would see much of a change. It is expected that the new Scorpio will offer almost the same mileage as the XUV. All ths means that we can expect an average mileage of around 13 kmpl in city and up to 17 kmpl on the highway.
