Mahindra has officially launched the facelift version of the Thar. Prices start at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The update follows strong interest from buyers and media speculation. The company offers the new model alongside the existing version. Changes are modest but meaningful.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “Over the years, Thar has become more than just an SUV—it’s a symbol of freedom, adventure, and a lifestyle that resonates deeply with our customers. At Mahindra, we are committed to listening to our customers and evolving with their needs, which is why the New Thar reflects both their feedback and our dedication to provide the best to our customers. By blending new design elements, smart technology, enhanced comfort and convenience features, the New Thar offers an unparalleled driving experience that empowers our customers to explore limitless possibilities in both urban and off-road settings.”
Exterior & Interior Updates
The overall design of the Thar remains unchanged. Mahindra has introduced a tweaked front grille and a two-tone finish for the bumpers (a la Thar Roxx). The headlamp and tail lamp units remain the same design. However, the rear now gets wash/wiper feature. Rounding off the exterior updates are two new colour options – Battleship Grey and Tango Red. The facelift is mostly about minor cosmetic upgrades rather than radical redesigns.
Inside, one of the biggest changes is the larger touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The new touchscreen measures 10.25-inch and supports Adventure Stats Gen II. A rear view camera is now available. A new steering wheel has also been introduced, borrowed from the Thar Roxx variant. The electric windows have been shifted to the conventional location on the door pads. They now offer a one-touch down feature. Another welcome addition is the sliding armrest, which comes from the Roxx. Finally, the A-pillars get entry-assist handles while the SUV even receives an internal fuel lid opener. These changes aim to improve user experience without altering the cabin layout significantly.
