The electric coupe SUV from the Indian automotive giant has already been immensely successful in its native market
The Mahindra XEV 9e was recently spotted on the back of a flatbed truck somewhere in South Korea. We know that the XEV 9e is among the most successful EVs in its space. Despite a hefty price tag, the buyers are flocking to get their hands on it. The Indian auto giant has created a world-class product, which it aims to sell abroad, too. Based on the INGLO platform, the latest breed of electric cars from Mahindra is categorised under two sub-brands – XEV and BE. For now, let us take a look at the details of this case.
Mahindra XEV 9e Spotted in South Korea
The specifics of this occurrence stem from trakinauto on Instagram. The visuals capture the camouflaged electric SUV on the back of the truck. Looking at the signboards on the highway, we come to know that this incident took place somewhere in the Gyeonggi province on South Korea. Note that this is the area where Kia and Hyundai operate. Hence, there are a few assumptions as to why the Indian EV could be there in Korea. It is possible that the Hyundai Group might want to benchmark its upcoming EVs against the XEV 9e. Alternatively, it is also possible that Mahindra is benchmarking the XEV 9e against international standards. That would mean that Mahindra is planning to launch the EV in international markets.
The Mahindra XEV 9e boasts two battery pack options with BYD’s Blade Cell Technology – 59 kWh and 79 kWh. These are good for an MIDC-certified range of 542 km and 656 km on a single charge, respectively. Furthermore, the power and torque figures stand at 286 hp and 380 Nm with the larger battery and 231 hp and 380 Nm with the smaller pack. Using a 175 kW DC fast charger, the bigger battery goes from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Similarly, the smaller battery takes the same time for the same SoC with a 140 kW DC fast charger. In the most powerful settings, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in just 6.8 seconds. The prices start at Rs 21.90 lakh and go up to Rs 31.25 lakh, ex-showroom.

In my opinion, the sighting of the XEV 9e in South Korea highlights how far Mahindra has come in developing globally competitive electric vehicles. The strong response to the model in India proves that Indian buyers are ready to embrace premium EVs if the product delivers on technology, range and design. If Mahindra is indeed benchmarking or preparing the XEV 9e for international markets, it signals the growing global ambitions of Indian automakers. This could be a significant step in positioning Mahindra as a serious EV player beyond the domestic market.
