The Indian auto giant is becoming more and more popular among car buyers with its latest breed of modern SUVs
Mahindra is currently not offering all that many discounts on its cars for the month of May 2025. That is quite rare. Most carmakers offer great benefits to customers each month to surge demand. It is a common industry practice. However, in the last few months, the popularity of Mahindra cars has gone through the roof. In fact, one could go as far as saying that the likes of the XUV700, Scorpio N, Thar and Thar Roxx have transformed the brand significantly. This can be established by looking at the sales charts for the last 5 months.
Mahindra Becomes Increasingly Popular
The fact that there are not too many discounts on mass market products from Mahindra this month led me to investigate further. Note that only the Bolero Neo and MY2024 XUV400 have some benefits. All the other SUVs don’t offer any discounts. In April 2025, Mahindra managed to sell a massive 52,330 units in India. Impressively, this made it the second-best-selling brand in the country. Hyundai sold a significantly lower 44,374 units. Remember, Hyundai has generally held the second spot in India for a long time.
In March this year, Mahindra sold 48,048 cars in the country, marginally behind 51,820 sales from Hyundai. Going a bit further, the Indian auto giant sold a massive 50,420 units in India, while Hyundai dispatched 47,727 cars in the same month. Therefore, these are clear indications that Mahindra has been constantly eyeing that second spot on the monthly sales charts for a few months now. Also, the immense bookings for its latest breed of EVs in BE 6 and XEV 9e will also contribute majorly to its sales going forward.
In any case, one thing is for sure – the buyers will get enticing options to purchase cars from the top carmakers in the country. Being competitive in terms of pricing, features, styling, and ownership costs is eventually beneficial for the car owners. To stay ahead of rivals, car companies often come up with creative solutions to woo new customers. I am quite excited to see how the three companies – Mahindra, Tata and Hyundai – come up with innovative methods to boost their respective sales in the coming months. Anyway, Mahindra’s rise to the top is evident.
