India is home to car modifications houses, which can transform just about any vehicle into any other model
I recently came across a rather bizarre instance of a Maruti 800 being converted into a Mahindra Thar. I must mention here that this Thar is absolutely rudimentary with minimum focus on quality. In the last few years, I have reported loads of instances of car shops coming up with all sorts of conversions of regular cars into something prominent. This ranges from sportscars to large SUVs. For now, let us take a look at the details of this latest case.
Maruti 800 Converted into a Barebones Mahindra Thar
The specifics of this occurrence stem from raveeshnandan on Instagram. The visuals capture a unique event of what looks like an old and rugged jeep. In all honesty, the donor model is almost impossible to ascertain. At the front, we see the round headlamps, which are reminiscent of the iconic moniker. In the middle, there are vertical slats on the grille with a tough metallic bumper down below. On the sides, one witnesses wheel arches with prominent fenders and an upright bonnet. The almost flat windshield reminds us of the age-old jeeps from the late 1900s.
Moving down the sides reveals a creaseless profile with regular steel wheels. This Thar replica just gets 2 doors and the rear section contains a fixed glass. There are ‘Thar’ and ‘4×4’ markings on the body and a boxy silhouette. What I found particularly hilarious is that it is able to house a lot of people as we get a sneak peek from the rear glass. At the rear, the simple metallic door with a house-door-like handle and barebones bumper complete the appearance. I feel the car shop decided to encompass the essence of the Thar rather than the details.
My View
This is yet another case of the creative car modification houses in India. The spirit of ‘jugaad’ is highlighted perfectly, courtesy of this creation. People end up coming up with makeshift concepts to fix an issue without having to spend a lot of money or involve too many complex procedures. I shall keep bringing more similar innovations for our readers in the future.
