Maruti Baleno vs Fronx Drag Race

Maruti Baleno vs Fronx Drag Race

This is an interesting drag race competition between the Maruti Baleno and Fronx. Both of these vehicles are fundamentally the same. In fact, the Fronx is built upon the same platform as the Baleno. Internally, the Fronx exhibits slight differences and features a more potent turbo petrol engine. Beyond that, there are scarcely any disparities between these two. Externally, the Baleno carries the typical hatchback silhouette, whereas the Fronx showcases a crossover body type. Here are the details of the specifics of this recent drag race.

Maruti Fronx vs Baleno Drag Race

This post comes from Gaurav kumar on YouTube. The YouTuber has the two vehicles side-by-side. The team puts both cars in their sportiest settings with AC and Traction Control OFF. However, there are two people in the Baleno and just 1 person in the Fronx. In the first round, the Baleno emerges victorious. But the driver of the Fronx mentioned that he was struggling a bit since he had to manage the camera while driving. In the subsequent rounds, the vlogger tests the two cars by tweaking the parameters slightly. Still, the Baleno was the clear victor. This could be down to its low weight despite having the same engine.

Specs Comparison

The Maruti Baleno is equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers a respectable 90 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque. It offers the choice between a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission, with prices ranging from Rs 6.61 lakh to Rs 9.88 lakh, ex-showroom. Conversely, the Fronx features a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine generating 100 PS and 147 Nm of peak power and torque. Notably, this is in contrast to the 1.2-litre petrol engine borrowed from the Baleno. The Fronx’s prices start at Rs 7.46 lakh and go up to Rs 13.13 lakh, ex-showroom. For this race, both of them had the same 1.2-litre engine.

What We Think

Nowadays, YouTubers often resort to drag races as a method to compare two cars and assess their performance. However, relying on drag races for such evaluations may not be the wisest choice. Drag races can potentially cause long-term damage to cars because most vehicles are not engineered to sustain high-speed straight-line racing. Therefore, it’s advisable to refrain from attempting drag races with your own car. Opting for safer driving practices is not only more prudent but also better for your car’s overall health. Additionally, it’s worth noting that drag races don’t provide a complete picture since, in real-life scenarios, most people don’t drive in such a manner due to safety considerations.
