This Mahindra Bolero Is Actually a Maruti Eeco – Wait, What?

Maruti Eeco Converted into Mahindra Bolero

India is home to some incredibly talented car shops who can transform any vehicle into any other model

I came across a rather hilarious instance of a Mahindra Bolero being converted from a Maruti Eeco. That is quite bizarre, considering the two cars are not related at all. On the one hand, we have the Bolero, which is a utilitarian workhorse from the Indian auto giant. It has been around since 2000. It is among the highest-selling models from Mahindra. On the other hand, Maruti Eeco is the most successful commercial van in the country. It came into existence in 2010, when it replaced the Omni and Versa. For now, let us take a look at the details of this post.

Mahindra Bolero Is Actually a Maruti Eeco

This post stems from sangwan9901 on Instagram. The visuals capture something truly bizarre. A man driving on the road recorded what looks like a regular Mahindra Bolero at first glance. However, look closely and you will realize that something is off. It seems too tall and the wheels are clearly too small. That is when it becomes evident that this is not a stock Bolero but a converted SUV. I must admit the car shop has done a commendable job of installing the body of the Bolero to make it seem original.

Nevertheless, after a close inspection, we are able to figure out that someone converted their Maruti Eeco into this Bolero for some reason. I can’t wrap my head around why anyone would try something so strange. Still, it encapsulates just how easy it has become in today’s age to transform any car into any other model. Mostly, people convert their budget cars into replicas of expensive luxury cars. However, changing an Eeco to a Bolero hardly seems ambitious. In any case, we got to experience a hilarious contraption.

My View

I have reported many instances of people converting their old and compact cars into new, expensive vehicles. Needless to mention, there can be tons of issues with it in the long run. The car modification houses are often not the most professional and they swap parts and disturb the mechanical components. Hence, I would suggest that our readers stay away from such practices. Finally, one must consult his/her local RTO before getting such customizations because most car modifications are illegal in India. I shall keep bringing similar stories for our readers going forward.

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

Having tracked the Indian car market closely for over a decade and a half, I’ve seen everything from tastefully executed restorations to outright mechanical jugaad. This Eeco-to-Bolero conversion, however, perfectly highlights the extremes some owners will go to, often without understanding the legal, safety and structural implications. In a market where both the Bolero and Eeco serve very distinct, purpose-driven audiences, such transformations make little practical sense beyond momentary shock value. It’s a reminder that while India’s modification culture is creative, it urgently needs better awareness, regulation and responsibility.
