New 2024 Nissan Magnite vs Maruti Brezza Specs Price Features Design Comparison

As the new Nissan Magnite is launched, it is natural to compare it to its rivals or the vehicles which have overlapping prices

In this post, I am comparing the new 2024 Nissan Magnite with the Maruti Brezza in terms of specs, price, features, design and safety. Both these are, essentially, compact SUVs. This segment has experienced massive growth in our country in the last few years. People buy these since they are able to get their hands on butch SUVs without having to shell out exorbitant amounts of money typically associated with large SUVs. The Japanese car marque recently updated the Nissan. On the other hand, the Maruti Brezza is one of the highest-selling compact SUVs in the country. Let us compare these two to determine their strengths and weaknesses.

New 2024 Nissan Magnite vs Maruti Brezza – Price

In a price-conscious market like India, the retail sticker of a car is a huge factor which people take into consideration before making a purchase decision. The new 2024 Nissan Magnite retails between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 11.50 lakh, ex-showroom. These are the same price which the pre-facelift model also had in the lower trim. On the other hand, the Maruti Brezza retails between Rs 8.34 lakh and Rs 14.14 lakh, ex-showroom. Therefore, the Magnite is certainly more attractive in this aspect.

New 2024 Nissan Magnite vs Maruti Brezza – Specs and Mileage

Next up, let us see what powers these two compact SUVs. The new 2024 Nissan Magnite carries on with the same powertrain and transmission options as the outgoing version. This means a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with and without a turbocharger. This results in 71 hp / 96 Nm and 99 hp / 152 Nm (160 Nm with CVT) of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing the transmission duties are a 5-speed manual and an AMT or CVT automatic gearbox option. This ensures that all kinds of needs of various buyers are met. Talking about the mileage figures, the company claims 20 km/l for the manual and 17.4 km/l for the CVT automatic. These are decent numbers.

On the other hand, the Maruti Brezza is available in two fuel options – Petrol and CNG. There is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces a decent 103 hp and 138 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 5-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Apart from that, the CNG version is good for 89 PS and 121.5 Nm of peak power and torque. This mill comes with a sole 5-speed manual gearbox. The mileage is 17.38 km/l with the manual, 19.8 km/l with the automatic and 25.51 km/kg with the CNG. Again, buyers have the choice of going for all sorts of engine-transmission combinations.

Design and Dimensions

The design elements of both these compact SUVs are distinct, lending them individual personalities. Let us start with the new Magnite. It carries on most components from the outgoing model. Still, there are enough alterations to distinguish the two. The front fascia contains a large grille section with chrome inserts on either side and a sleek headlamp cluster on the edge of the bonnet. Arguably, the most striking elements have to be the LED DRLs on the bumper. I particularly like the rugged skid plate section with fog lamps underneath the bonnet. On the sides, we get to witness elegant 16-inch alloy wheels, black side pillars, sturdy side skirtings, faux roof rails and pronounced wheel arches. The rear profile contains a sporty bumper section and M-shaped signature taillamps.

On the other hand, the Maruti Brezza also possesses an imposing stance and road presence. At the front, it gets a thick grille section finished in chrome and flanked by distinct LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The lower section consists of a rugged skid plate and a sporty bumper. On the extreme edges of the bumper, you will see fog lamps. Moving down the sides reveals a rather stylish alloy wheel design, matte black claddings on the wheel arches and side panels, handy roof rails and black side pillars. In fact, the black roof gives it a floating roof effect. Finally, at the rear, we get to witness the shark fin antenna, sharp LED taillamps, a sporty bumper and a rugged skid plate. All in all, it certainly looks extremely adventurous.

My View

Choosing between these two compelling propositions can be a bit tricky. However, I want to make it relatively easy for our readers. If you are on a strict budget and want to try out a comparatively new vehicle, going for the Nissan Magnite makes a lot of sense. In fact, it even has that turbo petrol mill for an engaging driving performance. On the other hand, if are a bit flexible with your budget and want to remain associated with the largest car marque in the country, the Maruti Brezza should be your pick. In any case, it is hard to go wrong with either of these. It is just a matter of preference.
