New 2024 Nissan Magnite vs Maruti Fronx Specs Price Features Design Comparison

The new Magnite has been launched in India and it comes with minor aesthetic alterations along with some new-age features

In this post, I shall compare the new 2024 Nissan Magnite and Maruti Fronx on the basis of specs, features, price, design and safety. The main reason for this comparison is the massive overlap in the prices of these two products. We know that price is the main factor when deciding which car to buy in the Indian market. On one hand, the new Magnite is an attractive option for anyone looking for a value-for-money proposition. On the other hand, the Fronx is a rather niche product in the sense that it is a crossover SUV based on the Baleno. Let us delve deep into the specifics of this case here.

New 2024 Nissan Magnite vs Maruti Fronx – Price

Let us commence with the main criterion, the price. In a price-conscious market like India, this is where decisions are made. The new 2024 Nissan Magnite ranges from Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 11.50 lakh, ex-showroom. Interestingly, this is the same starting price as the outgoing model despite the addition of new features. On the other hand, the Maruti Fronx starts at Rs 7.51 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.04 lakh, ex-showroom. Hence, the Magnite certainly has an edge in lower, as well as higher trims.

New 2024 Nissan Magnite vs Maruti Fronx – Specs and Mileage

The next aspect in this regard is the specs and mileage. The new 2024 Nissan Magnite retains its powertrain from the pre-facelift era. This means that it comes with a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with and without a turbocharger. This results in power and torque outputs of 71 hp / 96 Nm and 99 hp / 152 Nm (160 Nm with CVT), respectively. These engines pair with either a 5-speed manual, and an AMT or CVT automatic gearbox option. This indicates that all sorts of buyers can get what they want. The official mileage figures are 20 km/l for the manual and 17.4 km/l for the CVT automatic.

On the other hand, the Maruti Fronx comes in two powertrain options. These include a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill generating 90 PS / 113 Nm and 100 PS / 147 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Performing the transmission duties is either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The mileage figures are an impressive 21.79 kmpl from the manual version and an even better 22.89 kmpl with the AMT automatic. Note that the Fronx also offers a CNG trim with the 1.2-litre mill which generates 78 PS and 99 Nm of peak power and torque with a sole 5-speed manual gearbox.

Design and Dimensions

The design elements of both these vehicles are quite distinct. The Magnite features a more bold and upright stance reminiscent of typical SUVs. At the front, we see a large grille area adorned by chrome panels on either side. On the extreme edges, you will find sleek headlamps with prominent LED DRLs on the lower part of the bumper. Furthermore, the skid plate section on the bumper looks particularly tough with compact fog lamps integrated inside. On the sides, the new Magnite gets flaring wheel arches with elegant alloy wheels, black side pillars, sturdy side body claddings and a black roof. The tail section contains clear-lens M-shaped signature LED taillamps and a sporty bumper.

On the other hand, the Fronx embodies the latest design philosophy of Maruti Suzuki. The front fascia showcases the sleek chrome belt on the grille area which is flanked by slim LED DRLs on the bonnet while the main LED headlamp cluster is positioned on the bumper. I like the lower section of the Fronx with the silver skid plate which accentuates its sportiness. On the sides, the onlookers are greeted by stylish alloy wheels with rugged matte black claddings around the wheel arches and side panels. At the rear, there is a shark fin antenna, a connected LED taillamp panel, a sporty bumper and a sturdy skid plate. All in all, both these products have their distinct road presence.

My View

Now, it might be a bit difficult to choose between these two compelling vehicles, but your preferences would be enough to make a decision. For instance, if you want to experiment with a relatively new vehicle and are a bit strict on the budget, going for the new 2024 Nissan Magnite makes a lot of sense. It offers tons of modern amenities at enticing prices. On the other hand, if you are someone who prefers predictability and wants to stick to the perks of being associated with the largest car marque in the country, the Maruti Fronx should be on your list. In any case, you can’t go wrong with either of these.
