The deliveries for the higher variants will commence from January 14, 2026, while the low and mid-spec versions will go on sale later in April 2026. At present, let us discuss the differences between the XUV 7XO and Harrier in depth.

Mahindra XUV 7XO vs Tata Harrier – Specs Comparison
The Mahindra XUV 7XO is offered with two engine choices. The first is a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine. It produces 200 hp and 380 Nm of torque. The second option is a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine. It comes in two versions. One makes 155 hp and 360 Nm. The other delivers 185 hp and 420 Nm, which rises to 450 Nm with the automatic gearbox. Both engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Mahindra claims a 0-60 km/h time of under 5 seconds. In our tests, the SUV achieved 0-100 km/h in just 10 seconds. This is impressive for a large SUV. It also offers multiple drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom and a custom mode. Buyers can also opt for an all-wheel-drive system. Another key highlight is the global debut of Mahindra’s new DAVINCI suspension system.
On the other hand, Tata Motors has been using the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine in its large SUVs for several years. This engine produces 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Both the Harrier and Safari use this same engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and an automatic. This is one area where the new XUV 7XO clearly has an advantage over the Harrier. Buyers who want a turbo-petrol engine or an all-wheel-drive setup will have to choose the Mahindra SUV.

Design and Dimensions Comparison
The new Mahindra XUV 7XO gets a completely redesigned front. It features a full-width piano black grille with jewel-like details. Sharp LED DRLs sit beside the bi-LED projector headlamps. The lower bumper has a unique design and includes LED fog lamps with a silver finish. From the side, the SUV rides on new 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It also gets electric smart door handles. The side profile remains similar to the older model. At the rear, it comes with diamond-style clear lens LED tail-lamps connected by a black panel. The boot lid carries XUV 7XO lettering, along with a sporty bumper and a shark fin antenna. Overall, it looks modern and commands a strong road presence.
On the other hand, the Tata Harrier also looks bold and imposing. Key highlights include split LED headlamps positioned on the bumper. It features full-width LED light bars that connect the DRLs on the bonnet and offer a welcome function. The SUV comes with stylish 19-inch alloy wheels, attractive grille inserts and a rugged front bumper. From the side, blacked-out pillars give it a floating roof effect. Practical roof rails are also included. At the rear, it gets connected LED tail-lamps with a wraparound design. The brake lights are placed on the rear bumper, and a shark fin antenna sits on top. As mentioned earlier, both SUVs have their own distinct road presence.

My View
These two are mighty compelling SUVs. That is the reason why it might be a bit difficult to choose between them. Note that the 5-seat versions of these products are what we are comparing. Currently, the XUV 7XO offers more flexibility with multiple powertrain options and an all-wheel-drive configuration. On the other hand, the Harrier is a bit more affordable at the top end. In any case, I would suggest our readers visit their local dealerships and experience these two in the flesh.
