Mahindra XUV 7XO vs XUV700 - Specs, Features, Price, Comparison

The new Mahindra XUV 7XO has been launched and the special introductory prices are all the buzz in the market

In this post, we compare the new Mahindra XUV 7XO with the outgoing XUV700 on the basis of specs, design, features, price, etc. Note that the XUV 7XO is the facelift iteration of the XUV700. Having said that, the Indian automobile giant has made significant upgrades to set the two apart. This includes new styling elements, the latest tech and convenience amenities and tons of new-age safety and connectivity functionalities. The deliveries for the new XUV 7XO in AX7, AX7T and AX7L trims will start on January 14, 2026, while for the lower AX, AX3 and AX5 variants, the timeline starts from April 2026 onwards. For now, let us compare the two SUVs here to know what all has changed.

New Mahindra XUV 7XO vs XUV700 – Exterior Styling

Since these two are essentially the same products, design becomes a prominent aspect to distinguish them. The new Mahindra XUV 7XO comes with a new front section containing a full-width piano black grille with jewel-like talon accents, angular LED DLRs flanking the bi-LED projector headlamps, a distinct lower section of the bumper with LED fog lamps and a silver finish. On the sides, one gets greeted by the new 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, electric smart door handles, and a familiar silhouette resembling the old model. Finally, the tail section consists of Diamond-inspired Clear Lens LED taillamps, a black panel between them, XUV 7XO lettering on the boot lid, a sporty bumper, a shark fin antenna and much more. All in all, the SUV certainly looks modern and boasts an imposing road presence.

On the other hand, the XUV700 gets a wide and familiar front design. It features stylish LED DRLs placed at the edges of the bonnet, next to the LED headlamps. The large grille has vertical slats, and a strong skid plate sits at the bottom. From the side, it looks muscular with black alloy wheels, big wheel arches, flush door handles, blacked-out pillars and fake roof rails. At the rear, it comes with a shark fin antenna, sharp LED tail-lamps and a sporty bumper. Overall, both SUVs offer a strong and distinct road presence.

New Mahindra XUV 7XO vs XUV700 – Features Comparison

We know that Mahindra loves to equip its products with all the latest tech and convenience amenities. In fact, that has been the prime reason for its massive success in the last few years. The XUV700 started it all with tons of features, which you would typically find in entry-level luxury cars. I am happy to report that the new XUV 7XO takes things a notch higher. Some of the top highlights of the new SUV include:

Specs

This is one aspect which remains unchanged from the pre-facelift model. The 7-seat SUV is available with a familiar 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol mill which churns out a mammoth 200 hp and 380 Nm, OR a 2.2-litre turbo mill which is available in two states of tune – 155 hp / 360 Nm and 185 hp / 420 Nm (450 Nm with automatic transmission). These engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Mahindra claims a 0-60 km/h acceleration time of under 5 seconds. In our testing, we were able to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 10 seconds, which is impressive for a large SUV. There are various drive modes on offer – Zip, Zap, Zoom and a custom mode. Customers can also opt for an all-wheel-drive configuration. A key aspect of the new SUV is the global debut of the DAVINCI suspension system.

Price Comparison

The outgoing Mahindra XUV700 used to retail between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 26.04 lakh, ex-showroom. Interestingly, the introductory prices for the new Mahindra XUV 7XO start at just Rs 13.66 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 26.56 lakh, ex-showroom for the top diesel automatic with AWD. Clearly, the prices have not risen considerably. Having said that, the cost will go up after the first 40,000 deliveries.
