The Indian automobile market is expanding rapidly, with tons of new products arriving each year
The large 7-seat Renault Bigster SUV was recently spotted in India. Note that while the Duster launch is grabbing all the buzz at the moment, the French auto giant could secretly be cooking something intriguing. Renault is deploying a product offensive strategy in India to gain more market share. Cars like the new Duster and the recently revealed Bridger concept are aimed at the volume-churning segments in India. Amidst all of this, it could even target the 3-row mid-size SUV space to challenge the likes of the Kia Carens Clavis, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV7XO, etc. For now, let us take a look at the details here.
New Renault Bigster 7-seat SUV Spied in India
The heavily camouflaged SUV is seen parked on the roadside. At the front, it carries sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED turn indicators, a large grille section, a sport bumper and a skid plate-like element underneath. On the sides, we see elegant, large alloy wheels, a long rear overhang and pronounced wheel arches. Finally, at the rear, there is a distinct two-part roof-mounted spoiler, a rear wiper, LED taillamps and a rugged bumper. All these elements are in line with the international model.
Even though this video doesn’t capture the interior of the SUV, we know that the SUV abroad comes with tons of tech and convenience amenities. These include things like a 10-inch digital driver’s instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a 6-speaker Arkamys Sound System, Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, an Electrically Adjustable Driver’s Seat with Lumbar Support, a Panoramic Sunroof, ADAS Active Safety Amenities and much more. In terms of the powertrain options, it will most likely share the engine and transmission with the new Duster. More details will emerge in the coming weeks.

From what I see, Renault is clearly preparing a much stronger product pipeline for India after years of a relatively limited portfolio. The Bigster could help the brand tap into the rapidly growing three-row SUV segment, which continues to attract family buyers looking for space and premium features. In my experience, this category is extremely competitive, so Renault will need aggressive pricing and strong localisation to make a real impact. If executed well, the Bigster could become a crucial pillar in Renault’s India comeback strategy.
