The French auto giant has launched the new Triber with tons of new-age amenities
In this post, we take a look at the differences between the new Renault Triber and the outgoing model. Triber is among the most affordable 7-seat vehicles in the country. In fact, that has been its USP since the beginning. In a price-conscious market like India, this is often the deciding factor for buying any vehicle. Understanding this, Renault offers immensely value for money propositions across its portfolio. These include the Kwid, Kiger and Triber. For now, let us check out what has changed with the new model.
New Renault Triber vs Old Model – Design
As is the case with almost every facelift, the major alteration comes in the form of styling. However, I must admit that Renault has done some extensive work to make the new Triber look totally different from the old model. This incorporates a completely redesigned front fascia with the new Renault logo, a bold black grille, a sculpted bonnet, a redesigned bumper, a sturdy silver skid plate, new LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and new LED fog lamps on the extreme edges of the bumper.
In fact, the update is evidently visible. On the sides, the silhouette remains familiar when compared to the old version. Nevertheless, there are elegant 15-inch new alloy wheels with dual-tone effect, solid side body claddings, black ORVMs, black door handles and side pillars, rugged roof rails, and the floating roof effect. Finally, the tail section contains a roof-mounted spoiler, modern LED taillamps, which are connected via a black element, a solid skid plate and a sporty bumper. All in all, the old model basically had the same silhouette, but all components were quite outdated. Hence, the new Triber is a significant upgrade from the outgoing vehicle. The dimensions of the new Triber are as follows:
Dimensions (in mm.) | New Renault Triber |
Length | 3,985 |
Width | 1,734 |
Height | 1,643 |
Wheelbase | 2,636 |
Ground Clearance | 182 |
Boot Space | 625 L (w/ 3rd row removed) |
New Renault Triber vs Old Model – Price
With new updates and facelifts come new prices. The new Renault Triber is available in 4 trims – Authentic, Evolution, Techno and Emotion. The prices start at Rs 6.30 lakh and go up to Rs 9.17 lakh, ex-showroom. Note that only the top trim is available with the AMT automatic gearbox. For reference, the old model used to range between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8.97 lakh, ex-showroom. Therefore, one can recognize the slight premium in the prices. However, I believe these are reasonable, considering the updates.
Price (ex-sh.) | New Renault Triber | Old Renault Triber |
Base Model | Rs 6.30 lakh | Rs 6 lakh |
Top Model | Rs 9.17 lakh | Rs 8.97 lakh |

Specs
This is one aspect where we don’t see any changes. Honestly, this is understandable as facelift models mostly don’t bear any mechanical changes. Hence, the new Triber carries the familiar 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol mill, which churns out a decent 72 PS and 96 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. There are options of choosing between a 5-speed manual and an AMT automatic transmission. Interestingly, there is also the option to go for a government-approved CNG retrofitment kits along with a 3-year warranty. Therefore, customers looking for a low running-cost alternative can go for it.

Now, Renault has ensured that it transforms the Triber in its latest avatar to attract new buyers. Its value for money proposition was already quite popular among potential car buyers. With the latest model, consumers can now buy a modern-looking vehicle with tons of new-age amenities and connectivity with the same practicality as before. What’s even more impressive is that all this comes at a reasonable premium in terms of pricing. Let’s see how well the customers embrace it.
