Toyota Fortuner has been the most successful 7-seat off-roading SUV in India for the longest time
The next-gen Toyota Fortuner is about to be unveiled very soon for the international markets. In fact, we could even see it in India by the end of next year. Fortuner is an iconic product which has a global demand. In India, it has been the major vehicle in its segment, especially after the departure of the Ford Endeavour back in 2021. It has continued to woo new consumers with its imposing road presence and impressive off-roading capabilities. Nevertheless, it had been due for a thorough update for a while now.
Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner
We are able to glance at this virtual rendition of the next-gen Toyota Fortuner courtesy of theottle on Instagram. These are created on the back of some spy shots. At the front, we see a sleek section with slim LED taillamps and a massive grille section with chrome inserts. On the sides, this version gets massive wheel arches and stylish new-age alloy wheels. The black side pillars are surrounded by chrome frames, which add a premium quotient. Finally, the tail end showcases connected LED taillamps, a rugged skid plate, a sporty bumper, a shark fin antenna and a roof-mounted spoiler. It remains to be seen how close the production-spec model will be to this concept.
Talking about the interior, I reckon the new Fortuner will borrow many elements from the recently launched Prado and Camry. This includes soft-touch materials, new textures for the upholstery and dashboard, a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment display, wireless charging, smartphone connectivity, a new steering wheel, and much more. Hence, the Japanese auto giant will most likely redesign the entire cabin to depict modern amenities.
Expected Specs
Now, the biggest talking point of the next-gen Toyota Fortuner is its hybrid diesel engine. While it will most likely be the same 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill as the existing model, it will be accompanied by a 48V mild hybrid setup this time around. This setup will aid the efficiency, emissions and slight performance. Also, the power and torque figures could be increased to around 221 hp and 550 Nm (from 201 hp and 500 NM), respectively. With all these upgrades, there will be a considerable premium over the existing model. Let us keep an eye out for more details in the times to come.
