The new-gen Renault Duster will arrive on our shores by early 2026, after which, the 7-seat variant could follow
The Renault Boreal (7-seater Duster) was recently spotted testing on the Indian roads. Note that the Boreal was unveiled for the international markets earlier this month. In fact, it will go on sale in markets like Brazil by the end of this year itself. Duster has been a crucial name in the Indian automobile industry for over a decade now. It led to the creation of the mid-size SUV segment in our market. As we prepare for the latest iteration of the Duster in our market, it is exciting to know that there will also be a 3-row version on offer.
Renault Boreal (7-Seater Duster) Spied
The visuals stem from driftxp_ on Instagram. They showcase a heavily camouflaged SUV plying on a busy road. The tail section of the SUV is visible. It carries a uniquely shaped roof-mounted spoiler, a shark fin antenna, along with a sharp bumper and a muscular boot lid. A brief glimpse of the side profile reveals the prominent squarish wheel arches along with sporty alloy wheels. There are sturdy roof rails on offer along with C-pillar-mounted rear door handles. Finally, the front fascia makes an appearance in the video for a split second. We are just able to witness the LED DRLs, a narrow grille and a sporty bumper.
While there aren’t too many details about the interior layout, it is clear that the cabin will boast tons of new-age amenities and tech features. These could include things like a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment display, panoramic sunroof, premium audio system, soft-touch materials, plenty of storage spaces, powered seats, Level 2 ADAS and much more. To ensure enough space for 3 rows, the wheelbase could be 2,700 mm, while the length will be around 4,570 mm.
Expected Specs
The Renault Boreal will be available in Latin America with a new-gen 1.3-litre TCe turbo petrol direct injection mill with petrol and flex-fuel options. In the petrol version, the power output is 156 hp or 138 hp, while the flex-fuel version will generate 163 hp. However, it remains to be seen what powers the Indian model. Chances are it could carry multiple mills, including a 1.2-litre turbo petrol, a strong hybrid or a naturally aspirated petrol. I believe both manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer. We might even have a CNG variant. More details will emerge in the coming months.
