The premium hatchback continues to add to Tata Motors’ impressive portfolio of some of the safest cars in the country
Tata Altroz has bagged a full 5-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP, taking home the title of the safest hatchback in the country. That is a huge achievement. Still, it was expected since it has been a 5-star rated vehicle for a while now. Granted, it was before the testing protocols got updated. Nevertheless, we know that Tata Motors specializes in making safe cars. Almost all its products have 5-star safety ratings. That is a testament to how well the Indian auto giant focuses on this key area. For now, let us delve into the details of this latest news.
Tata Altroz at Bharat NCAP
The Harrier EV managed to accumulate a full 5-star safety rating at the Bharat NCAP in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) categories. These ratings are based on the impressive 29.65 points out of 32 in AOP and 44.90 points out of 49 in COP. The standard equipment list includes 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts at the rear, seatbelt pretensioner, seatbelt load-limiter, airbag cut-off switch, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) (UN GTR No.8 / UNECE R140 / AIS-133), pedestrian protection (AIS-100) and seatbelt reminder (AIS-145). All these factors contributed to the overall scores.
Talking specifically about the divisions, the Altroz secured 15.55 points out of 16 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 14.11 points out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test in the AOP section. Additionally, the Side Pole Impact Pole Test was rated ‘OK’. This was enough for a 5-star rating. On the other hand, the COP section encapsulates a Dynamic Score of 23.90 out of 24, a CRS Installation Score of 12 out of 12 and a Vehicle Assessment Score of 9 out of 13. This resulted in a full 5-star safety rating. Note that both child seat mounts are rearward facing. All this results in full scores in both departments.
