Tata Sumo Digital Concept Front and Rear

Tata Sumo has to be among the most successful rugged SUVs in our market in the last couple of decades. You might already know that it is no longer on sale in India currently. In fact, it ceased to exist back in 2019 due to strict emission and safety norms. I wonder whether it would command the same popularity had it been updated by Tata Motors at the time. In any case, we can experience the SUV in an updated avatar in the virtual realm.

Tata Sumo Virtual Rendition

This modern iteration of the iconic SUV comes to us courtesy of bimbledesigns on Instagram. The sheer excess of modern elements immediately inform us that this was incepted in the digital world. At the front, it gets an LED strip which runs the width of the SUV just above the grille which bears a modern design pattern. Adjacent to that, we see the rectangular LED headlamp clusters with four modules and LED DRLs. The bumper of this concept looks like it has been borrowed from some modern EV. It gets a vertical LED fog lamp unit along with rugged black materials underneath.

Apart from that, the SUV retains the clamshell bonnet but gets a chunky hood scoop and turn indicators on the extreme edges of the bonnet. On the sides, there are colossal wheel arches which surround the large alloy wheels, a creaseless side panel, auxiliary LED light on the roof, side steps for easier ingress and egress and an upright stance. At the rear, one gets to witness a modern version of the Sumo with a connected LED taillamp cluster, sleek light bars on either side, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a no-fuss bumper with LED lighting. All in all, this has to be the most unique illustration I have come across of the Sumo.

Our View

Watching digital concepts of everyday cars is a great way to get a new perspective. I mostly find myself enjoying the innovative renditions of mass-market cars by creative digital automobile artists. They give us a fresh vision for a car that we have seen millions of times. That is exactly what is needed sometimes to break the monotony. Hence, I appreciate and relish the digital versions, especially when they are done tastefully.
