The popular compact SUV from the French carmaker has been a volume churner not just in India, but in international markets as well
We are expecting the launch of the Renault Kiger facelift towards the festive season this year. Kiger represents a great value for money proposition in a world where SUVs are everywhere. In fact, its affordability was the biggest reason for its success when it was launched in India back in 2021. Note that it is a badge-engineered version of the Nissan Magnite. However, it is now due for a facelift and here’s our expectations from it.
What To Expect From The Upcoming Renault Kiger Facelift?
I have driven the Renault Kiger as part of the media drive. Overall, I appreciate just how much tech, styling and performance it offers at this price point. Nevertheless, there are some minor bits which need improvement. That is what I believe Renault will be working on with the facelift. For instance, the front and rear profiles will definitely bear some new elements to set it apart from the existing model. This could include things like a redesigned bumper, new headlamp and taillamp design, etc. Secondly, I hope that it gets new door locks.
Thirdly, I noticed that the space to secure the seat belt buckle is slightly compromised. With the update, a more spacious operation of the seat belt fastening could really enhance the ergonomics. Then, I would love to see the NVH levels of the Renault Kiger facelift improve, especially due to the 3-cylinder mill. Nevertheless, I must mention that the existing sound is also not too harsh. Finally, I wish that the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine could get peppier. It will be interesting to see which out of these issues will the French car marque address.
My View
Renault has been having a decent time on the sales charts in the last couple of years. The Kiger has been a major contributor to that. Additionally, it is in the process of launching new initiatives to attract new customers. These include a nationwide campaign for existing users, as well as reaching out to more potential buyers. Moreover, with its New R Stores strategy, the company is focusing on a branding exercise to cater to the priorities of modern-day customers. Let’s see how things pan out.
