The SUV will be on sale via the Arena dealership of Maruti Suzuki across the nation
Ahead of the September 3 launch, online reports claim that the name of the upcoming SUV from Maruti Suzuki will be Victoris. Note that until now, it was doing rounds on the internet under the Escudo moniker. The largest car marque in the country is planning a Grand Vitara-based SUV to be sold under its Arena brand. We know that the Grand Vitara is available via the Nexa dealerships. Hence, it can be expected that the Victoris will be slightly more price competitive than the Grand Vitara. Let us take a look at what we know so far.
Maruti Victoris SUV
In recent times, we had created a digital rendering of what the Maruti Victoris could look like based on some spy images. It is expected to follow the familiar design style of Maruti’s SUV lineup. Being closest to the Grand Vitara and Brezza, it could feature a slim LED light bar running across the front. The bumper may carry a sporty look, while the headlamps could sit at the extreme corners. From the side, its overall length should be similar to the Grand Vitara.
The SUV is likely to sport stylish alloy wheels and a 5-seat setup, with a 7-seat option planned for later. Since it will probably sit on the Global C platform, it may attract buyers with its massive boot space. In addition, it will not fall short on modern tech, comfort, and safety features. These are key to winning new customers today. Expected highlights include a digital driver display, a large infotainment screen, 6 airbags, a sunroof, automatic climate control, and more.
Expected Specs
Although there is no official confirmation yet, it is likely that the Escudo will use the same engine and gearbox options as the Grand Vitara. This includes a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol unit producing 103 hp and a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid engine making 116 hp. Both engines are expected to come with manual as well as automatic transmission choices. There is also a chance of an AWD variant, similar to what we see in the Grand Vitara. However, all details will only be revealed on September 3, 2025.
