In this post, I shall take a look at the details of the upcoming Tata cars in 2024. Tata Motors is one of the largest car manufacturers in the country, consistently vying with Hyundai for the coveted second position in monthly sales. Hyundai remains in second-place behind Maruti Suzuki for decades. With the growing popularity of Tata products, especially in recent years, it inches closer each month to securing that second spot. To strengthen its lineup, there are some exciting upcoming products. Here are the details of these cars.

Tata Punch EV

Tata Motors will introduce the Punch EV in the Indian market in 2024. The vehicle has been spotted undergoing road tests on several occasions. Alongside a few design enhancements, it is likely to come with the same electric technology as the Tiago. This entails a 25.58 kWh Lithium-ion battery that offers an approximate range of 320-350 km on a single charge.

The electric motor could deliver commendable performance, generating 74 hp and 114 Nm of peak power and torque. Propelling the front wheels through a single-speed transmission, the Punch EV is expected to accelerate from 0 to 80 km/h in roughly 13.5 seconds. The projected top speed is around 85 km/h, with a primary focus on optimizing driving range, similar to the Tiago EV. Interestingly, there’s a possibility that it might also adopt the electric motor from the Nexon in a de-tuned state.

Tata Punch Facelift

The Tata Punch, in its internal combustion engine (ICE) version, may undergo a facelift in 2024. The model has remained largely unchanged for a couple of years. With the anticipated update, we anticipate exterior modifications to infuse a more modern and sporty feel. Internally, there could be the inclusion of additional features and a larger infotainment touchscreen. Additionally, the powertrains are expected to persist with a 1.2-litre petrol engine sourced from the Tiago. For those interested in cost-effective running, a CNG version will also be available.

Tata CURVV

Tata Motors is introducing a completely new SUV in its lineup called CURVV, which was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. Positioned at around 4.3 meters, it squarely competes with the Hyundai Creta. Interestingly, it will occupy the space between the Nexon and Harrier SUVs. Sporting an SUV-coupe silhouette, it aims to be quite appealing. The CURVV will offer multiple powertrain options, including a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and an electric version, with the latter leveraging the technology from the popular Nexon EV. The interior is expected to showcase a modern design with the latest technology, convenience features, and connectivity options.

In 2024, we may have the opportunity to see the Altroz Racer Edition as the next addition to Tata’s lineup. It’s worth noting that we might also witness the facelift of the standard version, incorporating a few adjustments to the exterior design and the introduction of contemporary features in the interior. However, the Racer Edition holds particular intrigue in its hot-hatch avatar. It is expected to undergo slight mechanical enhancements, carrying the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine to provide an engaging driving experience. Positioned as a direct competitor to the Hyundai i20 N Line, it is certainly a model to keep an eye on.

Tata Nexon Dark Edition

Despite the recent introduction of the refreshed Nexon in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) versions, a notable absence in the lineup is the Dark Edition. Tata Motors typically provides special Dark Edition models for many of its cars, targeting prospective buyers seeking a sporty exterior and interior with bold colour choices. Consequently, the Dark Edition could feature blacked-out elements externally and a black dashboard and upholstery with red stitching internally. Mechanically, it is expected to remain identical to the standard model currently available for purchase.

Lastly, a noteworthy addition to Tata Motors’ lineup could be the Harrier EV, positioned as the new flagship SUV. Unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023, it is speculated to incorporate an all-wheel-drive configuration and a dual-motor setup. Although official announcements are yet to be made, there are expectations of an impressive range exceeding 500 km. Positioned above the Nexon EV, it is likely to feature a substantially larger battery pack, resulting in increased power and torque figures. Correspondingly, both the exterior and interior design are anticipated to exhibit a much more modern aesthetic compared to the standard Harrier model.
