VinFast VF MPV 7 Revealed For Indian Market

The portfolio of the Vietnamese carmaker in India is expanding steadily in order to capture a huge chunk of market share

The VinFast VF MPV 7 electric MPV has been revealed in its native market of Vietnam and it will make its way to our shores. VinFast is known for making cost-efficient electric cars in India. At present, it sells the VF6 and VF7 in our market to compete against the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, etc. The EV space in India has been growing rapidly. The customers have become quite open to the idea of using electric cars. Also, the charging infrastructure has been evolving quite quickly. Hence, potential buyers are willing to take the plunge.

VinFast VF MPV 7 Revealed For India

The Car Blog India team got the opportunity to be present at the occasion of the unveiling of the VinFast VF MPV 7 in Vietnam. The vehicle boasts the typical VinFast design language, which we have seen on the other models. Hence, the front section contains slim LED DRLs while the main headlamp cluster is located on the bumper. On the sides, it gets black alloy wheels, a chrome belt around the windows and a long wheelbase. Finally, the tail-end contains connected LED taillamps, a shark fin antenna, a roof-mounted spoiler and a sporty bumper.

On the inside, it gets a minimalistic interior with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit placed in the middle of the centre console. Other prominent bits include a 3-row configuration, premium AC vents, a flat-bottom steering wheel with multimedia controls, soft-touch premium materials, smartphone connectivity, adjustable rear seats, leatherette upholstery, 2 type-A, 2 type-C ports, voice commands, a PM 2.5 Air Filter, regenerative braking, ABS, EBD, BA, ESC, HSA, ROM, plus EPB with auto-hold and much more. Clearly, the electric MPV is loaded with the latest tech amenities to the brim.

Battery, Range and Performance

The VinFast VF MPV 7 carries a 60.13 kWh battery pack, which is good for a claimed range of around 450 km (NEDC) on a single charge. The power and torque figures are 201 hp and 280 Nm, respectively. This ensures a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 10 seconds. Using a fast charger, the battery gets juiced up from 10% to 70% in just 30 minutes. Furthermore, the EV boasts dimensions of 4740 x 1872 x 1734 mm with a long 2840 mm wheelbase. More details about the Indian model will emerge in the coming days.

Yatharth Chauhan, Managing Editor

In my view, VinFast’s push with the VF MPV 7 highlights a clear intent to tap into the highly underpenetrated electric MPV space in India. While the segment itself is niche, the combination of three-row practicality and EV efficiency could resonate strongly with urban family buyers. However, I believe VinFast’s real challenge will lie in building brand trust and a robust aftersales ecosystem, areas where established players still hold a decisive edge. If priced aggressively, though, this could quietly disrupt the early-stage electric people-mover segment.
