The Volkswagen Polo was originally launched in the Indian market in 2010. Since then, several variants and facelifts of the fun hatchback have been offered by the company. In march 2020, it came with a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (upgrading from a dual-clutch automatic with a torque-converter one). However, the company has now announce that it is pulling the plug on the small car. It plans to focus on made-for-India products like the Taigun SUV and the upcoming Virtus sedan. We still might see fully imported new-generation Polo GTI in the Indian market though.
